I am writing this review from the standpoint of wanting a silent vibrating alarm that would not wake my partner up.
This vibrates pretty close to an 8 on the Richter scale. It will wake anyone up, not only in the bed, but probably in the room. It is so violent, that it is actually difficult to hold while it's vibrating. It would be perfect, if the manufacturer had thought to make the vibration intensity adjustable, but they didn't think that far ahead.
If you have tremendous difficulty waking up, this will probably work for you. In fact, I think that this would wake up someone in a coma.
Another big problem is that it is quite difficult to turn the alarm off. There is a cumbersome sliding switch on the side that you aren't going to want to wrestle with when you're trying to wake up, and the clock is very thin and high, so you will likely knock it over, regularly, while trying to turn it off.

I normally turn the audible alarm off and only use the bed shaker placed between the box spring and mattress directly under my head. It works better than anything else I have tried!
The alarm itself is not stable. It is super-light weight and easy to knock over. This may force you to wake faster in the morning as you try to find the buttons on the alarm that has flipped over, but is is really annoying at night when you are trying to set it for the morning.
The controls for the alarm are not as intuitive as they should be. It is a real pain to set the alarm.
The LED is too bright. I have to face the clock away from my face at night, or it will distract me from falling to sleep. The large LED is, however, big enough to see without my glasses on--I am very near-sighted.
Despite all my gripes, the efficiency of using a bed shaker rates this alarm at four stars!

The clock I got meets the requirements I have, but it is not as good as touted.
Problems: The silent alarm only works on the highest setting, "Vibe and buzz." If set to vibe or buzz alone, it does nothing. The base is very shallow, while the clock is fairly tall, so if you aren't instantly wide awake, you're more likely to knock the clock over than to turn the alarm off.
Bonuses: The display has very large numbers, making it easy to read. It also has 3 brightness settings, which range from so dim it hardly throws any light to bright, which could substitute for the bat-signal.
Overall: I got enough functionality from this clock that I did not return it, but I did not get what I paid for. This seems to be the prevailing opinion with "silent alarm" clocks no matter the manufacturer, so I count myself as satisfied enough to not complain unless asked about it.

I bought this as a replacement to the other version of the Sonic Boom clock which got broken during an accident. It doesn't have a light socket attachment to turn on/off a light but that's alright.
The numbers are HUGE and easy to read... the alarm has since worked flawlessly and without any trouble.
Only draw back is the numbers are still fairly bright even on it's lowest of 3 settings, I am light sensitive and thus have to turn it away from me so it's not in my eyes. Setting the alarm is somewhat "not easy to do" as you have to flip it around to see the switches and buttons.
Other than that it's flat and easy to transport should I need to travel.
I'm alright with this clock... I don't either love or hate it. It's something functional that helps me get up on time like a good clock should.

This thing is great. I bought it because I'm someone who often pushes snooze about 5 or 6 times as part of my waking up process... You can imagine that hearing an alarm go off 6 times spread out over the course of an hour would make a roommate want to kill me, but I only use the vibrate feature which is quiet and never, ever fails (or would fail) to wake me up. It's great... also good to know that it has an audible alarm that can be used alone or in conjunction with the bed shaker that's volume adjustable. My only complaint (and it's very minor) is that it doesn't stand up on its own very well (it stands up, but is easily knocked over by a half asleep person attempting to shut it off like myself.) The cord is probably like 6ft long, but could be longer. Nonetheless, a great product!
