This is a really great product. I have had one for several years. I have an extreme hearing loss so I can't even hear the buzzer on this or any other alarm clock. This is the only thing on which I can depend to awaken me reliably at the right time. The way to use the vibrating pad is to install it under the mattress between the mattress and the box spring -- not in the pillow or in your clothing. Believe me, you'll get the vibrating effect through the mattress springs -- it's really very effective. If you put the vibrator in your pillow or just have it next to you on the bed it will wander off during the night and not work as well as putting it under the mattress to awaken you. I really couldn't live without this thing!Customer Review: buyer beware

I purchaced this clock in October 08 and it is already broken. The power cord has some sort of short in it and I have yet to find a place to purchace another one, although I found simular ones (wrong amps) at Radio Shack, and they cost more than this clock.
The alarm itself is a most irritating screech (Think fingernails accross a blackboard magnified by 100)!
It will wake you up, but it is a very unpleasant awakening! I got to where I turned the sound down and just let the vibrating disc jump around in a stainless steel bowl. In fact, the reason I give it 2 stars instead of one is that you can adjust the volume.
This product is a good idea on paper but too bad they used the cheapest possible materials.

I am hearing impaired AND a very heavy sleeper, so I bought this because
I can sleep through auditory alarms no matter how loud they are or how far across the room I have to walk in order to turn it off. It worked perfectly. If you are hard to wake up and normal auditory alarms don't work, I would definately recommend this product or at least a product of this type.
HOWEVER I bought the thing in December and it broke in March. The design is quite flimsy. I really wish more mainstream, high quality companies made vibrating alarm clocks because this was simply not a reliable product and was too cheaply made.
Buy it if it is the only thing that will wake you up, but purchase with caution.

This is my first review that I've taken the time to do.This is the 2nd best clock I've ever owned.the first died after 20 years.lol...I gave it 5 stars even thou the first one was defective out of the box,AMAZONs free return,and a new one at my door a day later,,sweet...thanks AMAZON..
The display is big.a+.
the controls are on the back so when you're swatting for the snooze you don't change settings.a+.
snooze pad is fairly small on top,you'll have to be 1/2 awake (dah!) to hit it.a+..
volume and tone separately adjustable from pleasant to down right annoying!!a+..
this alarm will wake up the living dead,,like me....
the vibrator is over kill,,the alarm is that good..imo....

The vibrating alert is excellent. I put the buzzer under my mattress pad and wakes me even though i can hardly hear without my hearing aid. The buzzing sound is terrible, but then again, it is volume and bass adjustable. My biggest gripe is the tall vertical design and the fact that it is nearly impossible to use without scratching the heck out of your furniture. Its tall and the base is very narrow, so it tends to get pushed over easily. Once you get a hang of it, its fine. I wish they made a version of a normal alarm clock style with a vibrating alert. I don't even use the audible alert since the vibrating alert is enough to wake me up. For anyone hearing impaired like I am, I highly recommend it.
