I bought this alarm clock for my daughter who just started college. I wish I purchased this years ago! After trying numerous alarm clocks, all claiming to be 'extra loud", and having nothing wake her up out of her deep sleep (I used to have to drag her out of bed in high school) we tried this alarm as a last resort. It is amazing. According to my daughter, it is the intensity of the alarm that wakes her up fully (I'm sure it wakes her roommate up also). The vibrations under her pillow help but the sound is most effective. We love that the sound is adjustable both for intensity and for tone. Excellent choice. I purchased this alarm for my two high school sons and it is just as loud as any other (cheaper) alarm on the market. The vibrating disk I thought was a unique feature and if placed properly (thats the key, you can't shift your pillows or move around too much in order for it to work) does a fine job. I expected however a louder alarm based on the description and am very disappointed at the noise level. It is also poorly made, not very sturdy and I can't see it lasting for the rest of the year. I recommend looking at other alarms, the ones with the built in CD players and other features seem to be the best bets and are quite loud!Customer Review: Alarm clock

This clock is a replacement for an earlier sonic boom clock whose vibrator stopped working. It is a different model, purchased because of the price. A review I read when I ordered this one said that it toppled over easily, but thought we'd give it a try. Out of the box, yep, stand it up and try to touch the alarm stop button, and there it goes. It falls over. But, I'm not one much for returning things, so we'll keep this for now. Now that we know it falls over, we'll be prepared when we turn off the alarm. The time display is very large, which is nice, but the housing is very thin, thus the reason it's not very stable.Customer Review: powerful, but did not work for me

I have returned it since it did not work "for me" at all.
But I have to say that this is my problem, I have "getting up problem" for several years already.
The alarm is indeed powerful, esp. the bed vibrator which can wake me up efficiently. But I will just turn the alarm off and fall asleep again. So, if you are having the same situation, I do not think this will help you. What you need is a alarm that you cannot trun off.
I asked a friend to call me every morning untill I get up. He need to call me several times for about half an hour, sometimes even longer. And this is the only way that works for me.

This alarm clock works great. As a Disabled Vietnam vet, I take prescription medications that really knock me out at night; however, the extra-loud alarm sound, along with the shaking of the bed, wakes me out of the deepest sleep every morning. The large time display is easy enough to be clearly read even by those of us who are somewhat visually impaired. The only reason I didn't give the clock a rating of 5 is that, being all plastic and quite thin, the clock is somewhat flimsy and easy to knock over. Nonetheless, if you need something to wake you from a deep sleep in the morning, this is the alarm clock you need.
