Ok, so I am a 16 year old student in high school. I often procrastinate causing me to oversleep and sometimes- I dread these days- one of my alarms don't go off or I snooze it and show up late to school, or have to miss school since I didn't wake up early enough to study for my upcoming exam. I haven't done it freshman or sophomore year, but I've missed school twice as a junior, and woke up 2 hours late once. My procrastination gets worse every year, this year it is the worst.
After waking up late on a day I really shouldn't have (2 hours late), I decided it was time to get a new alarm clock. I got this one because, well, it was the only decently affordable one that had decent reviews. After looking through them all I saw that it will eventually not keep time in sync after a period of time, and I can't write my review experiencing this yet. Perhaps I will post a new one if it does happen.
So far I have found out that the cable really isn't that long (as people said it is, I still largely need an extension to reach the wall outlet, which is around 15 feet away), the vibrator doesn't shake your bed so much you will wake with a jolt, as people have said. In fact, under the mattress it hardly has any effect. Therefore, I put it under the middle of my two pillows which gives it the most effect. As for the alarm, it's not a "sonic boom", in fact my phone is twice as loud as it (however my phone is exceptionally loud for its alarm). It is a decently loud alarm, and I feel that in combination with a back up alarm clock and the vibration + the sonic boom alarm, you shouldn't have trouble waking up.
When unplugged, the alarm keeps time accurately and doesn't reset if you have a battery in it (for some alarm clocks even this fails to happen), but the alarm won't go off and the display disappears. If the alarm is set to go off during the time it is unplugged, the alarm will go off once the alarm clock is replugged. This could be a problem as I toss and turn in my sleep sometimes unplugging the cable, but we will see. So far, the alarm seems pretty reliable. It does not come with the 9 volt battery.
What angers me though, is how no alarms better than this exist, or the reviews are inconsistent for them. Aren't there other people like me who need something even more powerful than this? Seems like there isn't a single good alarm clock or way of getting up in this world for heavy sleepers and stressed out students like me who really need a sure way to get up, besides if you possess an itouch or iphone... (which I heard is really good with the right app for the alarm, but I don't have one unfortunately).
Overall: 4 / 5 and a decent value,(I got it for 29 something with shipping included), would be 5/5 if it was more powerful and if the battery itself could set the alarm off.
When will it become unreliable and will it last a decent amount of time? I have yet to see. If there is a way to edit the review, I will definitely write about it when something does occur.
