Customer Reviews of Sound Oasis Sound Therapy SystemCustomer Review: It broke in a few hours Summary: 1 StarsA few hours after I plugged it in, it got warm and the display quit working. I returned it for a refund. Also, if you frequently change your alarm time you will find it annoying. You can only change the time by a single button that moves the time forward, and far too slowly. Thus, if you need to move the time back 10 or 15 minutes you have to hold it down and wait for it to come all the way around.
Customer Review: well designed... mostly Summary: 5 StarsI purchased the Sound Oasis Sound Therapy System hoping that it will help me be less disturbed by noise (and my husband's snoring). I like the design of the device quite well, it's got a smaller footprint than I expected and looks pretty nice on my nightstand.
The sound card that it comes with has several sounds that are very soothing to fall asleep to at night using the sleep timer (30, 60 or 90 minutes with a slowing of the rhythms as the time passes). At first I wasn't too sure that waking to the same sound that I use to fall asleep with would be a good thing, but, as a light sleeper, it works just fine for me. The "wake to sound" alarm has an electronic "pop" noise as it comes on which is enough to wake me most times, and if it doesn't, the sound gradually increases until you respond. The snooze button also functions as the "off" button, one tap for "snooze" two taps for "off" and I have accidentally turned it off instead of getting another snooze cycle a number of times. The clock display has a nice feature that you can turn it completely off so the light doesn't bother you, or three levels of brightness. The clock screen is LCD, so there isn't a lot of contrast, I can't just squint and see what time it is without putting on my glasses like I could with my old LED clock radio, but it isn't a huge deal for me.
So far, I have found that the sound therapy really has helped me fall asleep more quickly and deeply by masking out the TV or music in the house and traffic from outside. It's not as effective with the snoring of my husband right next to me (maybe if I hit him with it!) but the fact that I've fallen asleep more quickly tends to help me not be woken by the snoring, so it's a partial success in that department.
The only thing I'm not that in love with is the method of clock time and alarm time setting. It's a button you press and hold to initiate the display to advance, and you have to go through the entire 24 hours to set the time. After a moment it begins to advance by 10 minute intervals but it's still a lot of pressing and holding. And it is a little hard to advance by 1 minute increments. If you miss your time, you have to go around again the whole 24 hours which is annoying.
All in all, the Sound Oasis Sound Therapy System is a quality device and thoughtfully designed for those who have difficulty sleeping. It did seem a little on the expensive side, but a decent night's sleep is pretty valuable to me.
I also purchased on of the add-on sound cards and really like the rainfall sound on it, I'm using it a lot.
Customer Review: loved it - for one week! Summary: 1 StarsI loved this machine for one week, then it simply stopped working. For a $100 sound machine this is ridiculous! There is warranty, so I will try and get a replacement, but long will that one work. I am sick and tired of paying a high price for some cheap junk, that is not a quality product. Very disappointed and I will not purchase anything made by this company in the future.
Customer Review: A bit pricey, but worth it for the sleep Summary: 5 StarsI bought this because I had problems waking up in the middle of the night. I can hear my dog snoring and sometimes some noise from the neighbors in the morning.
After I bought this, I had my first 8-12 hours of sleep without waking up in the middle. It's almost scary, my dog use to wake me up in the morning to go eat/pee, but with this, she stays asleep too. I'm quite happy with it.
Pros
- I can't tell where the sound loop starts or ends.
- It works! Sleep is easier now and small noise don't bug me
- Timer mode makes the sound fade away instead of ending abruptly
Cons
- Price is a little high at $99
- Although you can raise the volume very high, the speaker can't handle the high volumes (you can always attach external speakers)
Customer Review: Ear therapycard disappointing Summary: 4 StarsOverall, a good product but don't expect too much from the ear therapy card. It has too many high tech/self important (and comparatively ineffective) sounds and not enough of the traditional ones.
