Customer Reviews of Source Naturals Neptune Krill Oil 500mg, 60 SoftgelsCustomer Review: I like it! Summary: 5 Stars
I won't go into the benefits of krill oil here since you can google for it. Instead I'll talk about the product.
There are multiple brands and all get their krill oil from Neptune who seems to have a monopoly on it. I focused on brand reputation and positive reviews. Source Naturals seemed to have the least negative reviews amongst all.
Value: Don't rely on the number of gels per bottle since some brands contain less omega-3's per capsule. The Source Naturals contain 150mg omega-3 per gel. And make sure it's per gel since some supplement facts list per serving which can be two gels. What I did was divide the price by total amount of omega-3's in the bottle to get a price per gram. To get the best value, make sure you get free shipping, and usually the bigger bottles are cheaper per unit. I know that the benefits of krill oil is more than omega-3's, this was just a basic calculation.
Taste: One reason why people don't get fish oil is because they can't stand the taste of it. I can say that krill oil does not have any fish oil taste. If you simply swallow the gel cap, you don't get any krill taste at all. I crushed one krill oil capsule in my mouth just to see what that tasted like, and it tastes like dried shrimp, or shrimp paste, and not much after taste. It's a very small capsule about 1/2 the size of regular adult fish oil capsules so it should be easy to swallow.
There isn't any doubt that omega-3's are good for you. Krill oil's omega-3's are supposed to be better and it contains astaxanthin as well. I've bought so many brands of omega-3s to try that I take a different one in the morning and a different one in the evening. So I'm taking some omega-3's from cod, some from anchovies and sardines and some from krill; I assume a varied diet can only be better than a diet of only 1 kind of omega-3.
Customer Review: Made me feel nauseated all day Summary: 2 Stars
I don't know if this has to do with this product, or if krill oil was just not meant to be consumed by humans, but after taking this with breakfast for some weeks I realize it is what's been making me feel sick all day.
Mid-way during the period that I was on these, I made a little experiment to test if it was in fact the krill oil that wasn't agreeing with me. So on 2 of the days I didn't take anything at all and the nausea went away, and I felt much better.
On the 3rd day I took fish oil instead with my breakfast ( I have big breakfasts) and still felt great (it has been my first time starting fish oil too) , I had no problems with it at all.
Then I resumed the krill oil again on day 4, and within 30 mins I was feeling sick again (nauseated) and that feeling stayed with me all day into the evening.
So, I had my answer! It was definitely the krill. I've continued the fish oil with no problems at all.
Humans were meant to eat fish and have been fishing for centuries (including eating shrimps), but I'm just not sure krill was meant to be consumed so readily by us. I know people have mentioned the Omega-3s are easier to absorb in krill oil, however I have not found any sufficient studies on krill made by independent researchers- most research was produced by the same company 'Neptune' that is harvesting the krill, and no long-term research at all in fact. So we still know little about it's long term use.
So for the next coming years I'm going to continue taking fish oil but follow this krill trend, and hopefully more research will have filled the void.
Customer Review: Helps with calming ADD/ADHD Summary: 5 Stars
I did some research and found that Krill Oil is even more potent than the high quality fish oil I was taking, I think due to the Phospholipid structure of the oil and how the EPA and DHA are attached at the molecular level. The trigliceride structure of the fish oil is not as biovalable (the percentage your body actually utilizes) as the Krill Oil in the phospholipid structure.
I found that the Krill Oil seemed more efficient and cost effective in delivering the same results.
How I got on to Omega-3s as a treatment for ADD/ADHD:
A friend of mine who has always had a problem with ADD/ADHD told me that he was taking something that changed his life. (I have also struggled with ADD/ADHD my whole life.) He reccomended a brand of high quality fish oil. I tried two bottles of the capsules, no fish burps like many people have experienced (thats just my stomach).
The results from the Omega-3s in the fish oil were an increase in my mental focus, being able to think clearly, calmness, sleeping at night, have been dramatic to say the least. I can stay on task at work much better than I ever had. I feel more 'in the zone" and focused than ever before. Perhaps its my reaction, but for me to sit down and write something like this. It means something. The krill oil has the exact same effects.
I will take this stuff for the rest of my life or until another homeopathic ADD/ADHD treatment is found to be more effective.
Hope this helps you guys/gals out there.
Customer Review: Took it for its size, overwhelmed by results Summary: 5 Stars
I started taking Krill oil because I was looking for a smaller pill then the fish oil capsules I was taking, as I have difficulty swallowing large pills.
I did not expect the results I received, I was scheduled for carpel tunnel surgery, my carpel tunnel was not caused by repetitive action, but arthritis in my wrist was caused by severe trauma suffered many years ago.
About a week after I started taking 1 gram (two softgels) I noticed that my carpel tunnel symptoms began to lessen, at the same time time I noticed the inflammation and swelling that had been present for more then a year began to shrink.
After three weeks I saw my doctor who canceled the surgery and told me to continue what ever I was doing because it was working.
It has been six months now and my wrist is 95% to what it was before my arthritis flared up, taking Krill is the only change I made. I do not know if it is lowering my HDL or some of the other benefits that is credited Krill but am anxious to find out. I recommend this product completely. I have never recommended any other supplement in my life.

Customer Review: How Do I Rate Something Like This? Summary: 3 Stars
After my heart attack, I tired this and a lot of other supplements in an effort to better control my health and better manage my condition. To read all I have here At Amazon, people make it sound like taking ANY of these supplements will make you feel like a kid again, cure everything that ails you etc. Reading all these reviews, I felt like the times may have changed but NOT the story. It used to be called snake oil. Now? Well lets just call it "Supplements oil"..... I have 2+ full months under my belt now and every single ONE of these things was allegedly going to be FELT and felt in just a couple of days.....Well I have the 2 months, and feel NOTHING. Period. Do they help? No idea. But found out my cholesterol is even a bit WORSE and my triglycerides and my HDL is worse. I have done all you are supposed to do and yet here I am. So to be fair, I rate this and all my supplements with 3 stars. Why? Simple. Don't know if they work, or don't. I know what they COST. And it doesn't bother me in the least because I know at least I tried. Along with exercise and the rest. I won't be buying any more of any of these supplements. But I will continue to eat healthy and exercise. It was worth a try right?
