Customer Review: Great for extra fiber in your diet

I admit; I had never heard of psyllium husk powder until I heard Dr. Weil recommend it, but I had been thinking of different ways to add more fiber to my diet so I figured I'd give this a try. One teaspoon of this powder gives you 4g of soluble fiber.
I've never used Metamucil so I can't compare products, but this stuff is...weird to ingest. It's taken me a bit of trial and error to find a way that makes it even remotely palatable. Personally, I keep a pitcher of water in the refrigerator with an herbal tea bag thrown in (usually raspberry zinger) for a hint of flavor. I use this water straight from the fridge (the colder, the better - I tried this in hot tea once and believe me, that's not the way you want to go) and then IMMEDIATELY down the entire glass. If you wait more than about 5 seconds it starts thickening (technically, Wikipedia says it's a mucilaginous product), which I can't handle from a texture standpoint.
Overall, I really like this product. It does taste awful, but it's an easy way to up my fiber intake.
