ALL hot water bottles come with that stinky rubbery stench... This one is no exception. So get over it and just expect it to do what its job is... To warm you up when you're cold and there's no reason to not give this a five-star. I don't use it at home very often. But when I am travelling, especially on retreats and to cabins and places like that - it certainly is a Godsend. I don't mind at all that the pink slip doesn't come off. It gets wet occasionally but it has never gotten soaked to the core. I just wipe it off with a couple paper towels and it's almost nice to have that wet spot for a little while to make it feel less scorching. I love that it has the cover. It's not made to hug but it certainly at least allows for it. At least you won't have to be holding it by the little tongue sticking out off the top as I did when I was growing up.

Oh, it probably says not to pour in boiling water. I do. All the time. It's fine. I mean not literally BOILING water but after my kettle is done and I let the literal boiling die down and then pour the scorching hot water, carefully into the bottle - be sure to pour it INTO the hole, not anywhere around it as it will make bubbles and pop and burn your hand. And when you're done (I fill it almost to the brim - it's fine...) just push the rest of the air out - and allow a tiny bit of the water to slosh out the top and screw the lid on. Turn it upside-down and tap the water in the nozzle...area out and voila. In bed, under a blanket, it should still be warm-ish when you wake up.
