I thought of myself of the type of person to buy and "alternative" toothpaste, but am I glad I did. This stuff is truly wonderful!
I first decided to buy it because my toddler son developed (gasp!) cavities. In addition to brushing more often I really liked the idea of a a toothpaste that could help prevent cavities by inhibiting the growth of bacteria in a natural way.
My daughter who is older loves the taste. She describes it as "chocolate mint"! Both the kids love the flavor, in fact.
I didn't plan to use this toothpaste myself, seeing as it's relatively pricey - I was planning to just buy it for the kids. However, after using it a few times and then going back to my usual Tom's of Maine, I found that I couldn't stand the Tom's anymore. It left my mouth with that puckered feeling, like I just sucked on a lemon. And to think that in the past I used to associate that feeling with "clean."
So now I'm a convert to Squigle too! My husband doesn't use it, because of course, real men only use Crest.
I am really pleased with the xylitol in this toothpaste. I never have a sour taste in my mouth in the morning anymore. To increase this effect I do not rinse with as much water after brushing as I used to, to keep my xylitol in my mouth.
For those concerned about flouride, please be aware the Squigle also makes a flouride-free toothpaste called Squigle Toothbuilder. I also use this on my toddler because he is not great at spitting. The Toothbuilder toothpaste does not have added flavor but is very pleasant tasting nontheless. My toddler loves it.

Squigle protects and soothes dry mouths, and it?s great for people who get mouth ulcers from cancer chemotherapy. Squigle Toothpaste has a mild pleasant peppermint flavor which kids love. Whitens teeth gently without the use of harsh abrasives. Free of artificial preservatives, colors and sweeteners. Will not cause stinging. For best results, floss daily before brushing.
