It does not state in the written details that you MUST have a box spring for this hand rail. It will not work with the sponge type mattresses that fit right onto the bed frame. If this information had been included in the reading material online I would not have purchased it. I ordered this bedrail yesterday morning and it is here, installed and already being used at noon today! FAST service, easy to set up, I needed it for a bed on the screened porch for my husband. Bought this item for my Mom who is 81 and a bit weak. Had purchased full bed rails in past and was hard to manage getting her in and out of bed without cumbersome issues. This works great, I got it for my grandmother and it has helped her in and out of bed. She also keeps her remotes in the pockets, They don't get misplaced any more. I would recommend this product for its uses.
