Customer Review: Natural, No warning labels!
Summary: 4 Stars

STEVIA NO ILL HEALTH EFFECTS!, March 7, 2005
Unlike Aspartame (Equal/NutraSweet) or Sucralose (Splenda) or Acesulfame-K or any of the other dangerous chemicals that have been put in just about every food and drink nowadays, even GUM and vitamins, STEVIA is the natural extract of a sweet leaf.

Stevia has been used for THOUSANDS of years without ANY bad health or side effects.

Until just recently, Japan had a LAW that no artificial sweetener could be used in ANY food or drink! When you bought a DIET COKE in Japan, it used to have STEVIA in it! Unfortunately, now they too have been forced to put Aspartame in their soft drinks.

Stevia not only is safe for diabetics, but is actually GOOD for diabetics and helps diabetes! It does not promote tooth decay, and even though the FDA admits it is safe enough for it to be on store shelves, they will only allow it so long as Stevia does NOT say it is a sweetener, the US law says Stevia has to be called a "nutritional supplement" to satisfy the big money corperations that make Aspartame and Sucralose that pay good money to make sure the FDA does not allow any competition!

I was researching this for many years when trying to find a sugar substitute for my diabetic family member. I myself don't like the taste of Stevia because it has too much a taste of licorice, and I don't want everything I sweeten to taste like licorice. Other than that, this would be perfect and solve all sugar free problems.

So far, I have found nothing that is as good as sugar, and sugar is all I use, but for people that come over that want sugar free sweeteners, all I offer in my home is Stevia.

Not Equal, Not Sacharin.

You will never see any WARNING labels on Stevia as you do on all the other "sweeteners" that the FDA approves!!

Customer Review: Clean Sweet Flavor, No Aftertaste, Reduces Sugar Cravings
Summary: 5 Stars

I have tasted different brands of Stevia and this beats them all. Sweet leaf had a funny licorice taste to it, and was not very sweet. It added a strong and different flavor, not to mention the bitter aftertaste. This brand has a "cleaner" flavor with no aftertaste. One must remember to use it very sparingly- as if you use too much, it can be bitter. One packet is the MOST you need to flavor a cup of herbal tea, and I have found that the taste of this blends very well with herbal tea (which is not surprising, since Stevia itself is an herb). The packets are also very convenient and are portable, making it easy to avoid the "pastel packets of poison"you find at most restaurants.

Some surprising benefits of using this for me have been reduced sugar cravings. I used to use Splenda and found that at times I would be hungry or crave sweets after. After reading about possible hazards associated with artificial sweeteners (as well as the effects on the brain and body from an artificially produced sweetness) I eliminated all sources completely. When I started using Stevia I founded that my sugar cravings were reduced and I was not as hungry after consumption. I am not claiming this will be the case for everybody but I found this to be a pleasant effect of this.

If you are going to be using large quantities of Stevia for baking or making large pitchers of drinks, I would recommend Kal Pure Stevia; you can afford to use more of it without a bitter aftertaste. I do like this brand, but if add several packets to sweeten iced tea or lemonade, there is a bit of an aftertaste. Kal Stevia is perfect for such situations. However, Kal is even sweeter than this brand, and must be measured very precisely. In small quantities, I don't detect a difference betweeen this brand and Kal.

Customer Review: Best overall Stevia Product we tried
Summary: 5 Stars

We tried 4 different Stevia products to see which we would like the best. We compared the taste, any aftertaste, how fast it dissolved in cold liquids, specifically mint tea, and cost. We tried Stevia Supreme, Truvia, Sweetleaf, and Spring Valley.

Stevia Supreme came out the best. It dissolved reasonably quickly, had a good taste, little or no aftertaste, seems to be one of the best for having the least added ingredients, and it is a very good price from Amazon.

Truvia was our 2nd choice. It was best for quickly dissolving in cold liquids, and also had a good taste, but we had 2 problems with it. My husband thought it had a slight aftertaste (I didn't notice it) and the label lists "natural ingredients" which could be anything. Also, it was a bit more expensive than the Stevia Supreme at our local supermarket but not a lot (and a lot less than I am seeing it today on Amazon!).

Third is Sweetleaf. It has a sweet flavor and very little if any aftertaste, but it is so very mild that it doesn't make the drink as sweet as the others. If you use too much to try to get the sweetness, it will taste bitter. It takes a longer time to dissolve and it is also more expensive than the Stevia Supreme.

Fourth, and not recommended at all, is the Spring Valley Stevia. I got it at Walmart for the lowest price of all the Stevia products, but it has a very strong aftertaste in my opinion and after trying it for a few days, I threw the rest away. I've used other Spring Valley products and been happy with them, but this was clearly inferior.

Spring Valley was the only one that I did throw away because all the others were overall satisfactory, but the Stevia Supreme was the best in our opinion.

Customer Review: It's Not Sugar!
Summary: 5 Stars

I think a lot of people look at sweetener and they have to compare it to sugar. If you like sugar, then you need to use sugar. Plain and simple. But if you're "willing" to try other items to sweeten things, then certainly I think Stevia Supreme is worth a try.

I found out about this product fist by doing a Google search on Truvia, and read a great article about that. . . and that's where I found out about Stevia, and why it's a "dietary supplement".

So. . . I came to Amazon.com and found Stevia Supreme. I read the reviews and decided to try it. . . and I'm glad I did!

When I first put some on my finger and tasted it. . . YUCK! I thought . . . this is NOT sugar! But then I decided to try it in some lemon/lime-ade and I really like it! I think it's quite a bit "sweeter" than sugar. But make no mistake . . it's NOT sugar. I make quick lemonade or limeade (or lemon/lime-ade) with True Lemon / True Lime True Lemon Crystallized Fruit Wedge ~ 192 Ct BulkTrue Lime Crystallized Fruit Wedge ~ 192 Ct Bulk This makes a refreshing, sweet beverage. I certainly don't think that Stevia Supreme is going to work for everyone. . . but. . . at this price, you can try it and see if it's right for you. As more and more reports are coming out about other sweeteners not really being very good for you. . . and Stevia has been used for many . . .many years. .. I think I'll stick with Stevia Supreme. . .at least for now. :-)

Customer Review: Great Sugar Substitue but NOT sugar
Summary: 5 Stars

If you are looking for something exactly like sugar. BUY SUGAR. However, you will then deal with all of the negative effects of sugar least of which is the calories you will be taking in with every cup of coffee, or tea, or bowl of cereal etc. I love stevia supreme. I use it im my coffee 3 or 4 times each day ( ok, I agree I drink too much coffee) and it tastes great. Even when I add cream as well, the taste of the coffee is nicely sweetened with no negative flavor. To be honest, when I first started eating stevia, it took a bit to get used to as although it is sweet, it is a different kind of sweet then pure sugar. The main difference is that its simply stronger then sugar, so if you taste it directly it can be quite strong. However in drinks and cereal it really is great, and NO CALORIES. I have actually tried some of the Stevita liquid flavors as well, and they have been an awesome way to flavor my coffee from time to time, and I actually like the lemon flavor directly in water. (its more like a cake lemon flavor .. not citrus. Really delicious).

So, I have read allot of reviews here about how stevia doesnt taste like sugar, and so its horrible. But simply know that its NOT sugar, and give it a chance. After a few drinks with it, you will be hooked. Its great.
