DO NOT BUY THIS HEATING PAD! I read the other reviewer's comments about this pad going on fire. I had the same experience last night. I have a mild rib injury which is helped by heat. I sat down to watch the evening news and put the heating pad on the area. About two minutes after turning it on, the cord (where it attaches to the control) sparked and burst into flames. I jumped up quickly and disconnected it from the outlet which stopped the fire and sparks. The arm of my $800 Berkline recliner was burned and a small spot on the carpet was damaged. I was not hurt. It happened so quickly and without warning. I plan on reporting it to our local consumer products agency.Customer Review: Disappointed - Must have gotten a bad one

Based on the great reviews for this heating pad I bought the king size version, but it doesn't get very warm at all. Like a couple of reviewers have said, "I must have gotten a bad one. " Actually, I couldn't find the king size one listed when I came back today to write this review. Are they all defective now? I have a Kaz Soft Heat (with auto shut off) that gets nice and hot, but I was looking for a continuous heat pad. The Kaz also has a much softer plush cover. The cat and I fight over that one. She doesn't even get near this Sunbeam. I've never returned anything to Amazon, but this one is going back. My back (and neck) need more heat and relief.Customer Review: Great for fermenting foods

I bought this so I can provide some heat when I ferment some foods overnight and it has never disappointed me. I usually keep it in a box on the low setting and it works perfectly fine. I even used it to keep warm during cold mornings and works lovely.
The only problem is that I thought it would be bigger. This being the case, I would have ordered a larger size but will not dock any points from the rating due to my careless mistake.
This product has never given me any problems and recommend it if any readers of this review would like to use it to ferment foods. Otherwise, you might want to get the larger size.

I bought this for my aging cat, and despite the warnings ("Don't use this for animals"), I've used it and he's loved it. On the lowest setting, it is warm without hotspots, and when wrapped in a towel, it provides a very subtle, even heat. The controller is large, and I could see how someone with arthritic fingers might have an easier time operating it. The single slider moves easily, and there is a bright red LED to indicate that the unit is on, just in case you can't tell by touch. Overall construction seems a bit chintzy - cheap plastic with a flimsy fabric cover, but as long as it continues to do the job, I won't complain.Customer Review: Best Warm Investment Ever!

My kitty-cats and I are fans of these particular heating pads with NO auto shut-off!
Two of my kitties are older and have joint stiffness and pain.
They begin their days on the warm pads (set at the low temperature).
The heat truly helps them.
Their kitty mom (me!) also uses the heating pad for pain therapy.
I have only found the "No Shut-Off" pads online; stores don't carry them in my area.
The price is extremely reasonable.
The pads also have a long life.
Very highly recommended for people...AND pets!
