Customer Reviews of Swiffer SweeperVac Rechargeable Cordless Vacuum Starter Kit (Packaging May Vary)Customer Review: Excellent Sweeper, New model differences Summary: 5 Stars
I've been using Swiffer Vac Sweeper about 2 years. I use it daily, once in the morning, once at night and more times on the weekend. I had about 5 different cordless sweepers/hand held sweepers before this one. I would buy a new one every 3-6 months because I quickly grew tired/frustrated with them. All for different reasons - they would not pick up all the dirt, were too bulky, left tiny speckles of dirt behind, etc, etc.
The Swiffer has won me over all the others. I have a long haired cat, lots of plants, hardwood floors throughout my whole apartment, and thus, have lots of cat hair, general dirt and litter around that needs pickup on daily basis. Yes, you should consider this vac disposable, it will not last 20 years as your big vacuum will, but again, it's not supposed to. My old model just died - it would not accept any more charge - the light to charge does not stay on steady, it flickers and dies.
Differences between old and new. Biggest difference is the on/off switch - they moved it from the top of the handle to the vac body - not as convenient but the vac comes on as you lightly touch the button, nothing to press. A good change - the charge button now lights on green when vac is charged, old one just went off when it was done. The color is cute - now it's a very pretty grass green. New vac came with a different charger and 2 sweeper cloths to try - they seemed thinner/flimsier than the ones at the store. The filter cartridge is the same as old vac - you can use your old filters with new model.
General use tips. I clean it every week, change the cloth and wash the filter. I now have 3 filters and interchange them. Filters that came with my 1st model now lasted 2+ years without any major visible wear. I let the vac run out of juice before I recharge. Usually it lasts about 3 days.
Customer Review: GREAT in the Kitchen + Bathroom! Summary: 5 Stars
I love love LOVE my Swiffer Vac + Sweeper!!!
First off, I have two toddlers. They are always making a mess in the kitchen! They get cereal on the floor, food, crumbs, anything and everything.
With a broom it was always hard to want to clean up all the mess. Brooms are just a pain, and you don't really want to use them unless you HAVE to. So most of the time I would just pick up the mess myself on my hands and knees.
Well, I got the Swiffer VAC + SWEEPER, and now I clean up everything ALL THE TIME! The second they make a mess I get my swiffer and clean it right up. This thing sucks up whole Cheerios!!!!!!!!! I am so not kidding, it sucked up a WHOLE CHEERIO!
It is so light to move around that it is like your not even pushing it. The best thing ever is that it actually fits under dining room chairs. I don't have to move the chairs out anymore to try and reach stuff.
IT FITS BEHIND THE TOILET. This thing moves anywhere and everywhere you want it to go! It is like cleaning is the best thing in the world now. I don't have to move furniture, I can clean stuff the second it is messy without worry, and it is done in like 2 seconds!
Just remember that when you buy it you have to charge it for 24 hours before you use it. I keep mine plugged in all the time so it keeps the charge. It has never stopped working for me yet, and it has held a charge.
I do have smaller rooms so if you have bigger rooms I am not sure how well the charge would keep. For me it has not lost a charge yet though.
I use this and the Swiffer WetJet, both work really really great! I feel like you shouldn't have one without the other!
Customer Review: Pros and Cons Summary: 4 Stars
I really like the Swiffer Vac. I use it daily for a quick 5-8 minute vac around the tile & wood in my house. The kitchen, family room, formal living room, dining room, and bathrooms are either tile or wood. If I go quickly around these areas it will keep a strong enough charge. I had to learn to go quickly because if I go slow the battery wears down and it loses suction power. Again, it's only meant for a quick pick-up in-between thorough cleans with the real vacuum. We have two dogs, two cats, and no kids, so it is mainly meant to pick up fur/dust/light sand, and it does a wonderful job at that. It is NOT meant for cat litter (get the Tidy Cats Breeze - it's great!) food, mud, or anything heavy.
A piece of advice someone gave me - After using it for your quick daily vacuum, let it run until it stops. I usually put mine in the garage for a few minutes so I can't hear it while the battery drains. Then I plug it back into the charger and let it charge until the next day when I use it again. I've heard that it is good to let the battery drain completely before charging again.. UNFORTUNATELY the last time I did this, I FORGOT to plug it back in and when I finally plugged it in two days later, it wouldn't charge at all. Ugh... My fault.. I guess I completely killed the battery.. So I'm buying my second Swiffer Vac now.. I had my first one for about 9 months. I like it enough to spend another $35.
So..
The Good: Perfect for convenience and pet fur.
The Bad: I wish the battery/suction power could last longer during each use.
Customer Review: A must if you own cats Summary: 5 Stars
I have owned this for the past two months, and I use it every day. It has cut my cleaning time in fractions. When I first received it, it was easy to take out of the box and assemble - no more than 60 seconds - literally. It came with batteries and required a night of charging before the first use.
I live with two small children - one of them an infant who crawls about - and four house cats. We have hardwood floors. I used to have to broom sweep at least once or twice a day to keep up with the dust and shedding of cat hair, which often took me fifteen minutes, and then I would have to "dust" the floor with a Swiffer cloth to pick up the light hairs and dust bunnies that easily floated away. With this Swiffer, I can quickly go through two rooms and a hallway in 5 minutes because the appliance picks up particles like tracked cat litter and dirt, and the attached Swiffer cloth electrostatically traps the hair and fur. Then, I just remove the dust container and empty it in the garbage can.
THE BEST PART: my six-year-old daughter likes it so much because it is light and easy to use, so she now does the cleaning half the time for me without asking! I love it!
This is a true replacement to the traditional broom and dustpan (unless you need to sweep up larger items like broken glass or chunks of mud), meaning that, just like a dustpan, you empty it out after every use. But it is just as easy to empty out and does the job much quicker and better. I love how it gives me more time for other things!
Customer Review: Great on Pergo floors Summary: 4 Stars
I've always lived in houses or apartments with carpet, so when i moved into an apartment that was entirely pergo floors (aside from the linoleum kitchen & bathroom floors)... I was in a panic. I HATE working with a broom and dustpan - there's always so much dust and crumbs left over and the broom gets disgusting with hair and whatnot.. So I went out and bought the Swiffer SweepVac.
OMG. This thing is fantastic. I use it everyday and probably go through the clothes faster than a normal person (thankfully Target has their own brand of clothes which work just as well as the Swiffer brand). The key to this awesome product is not just the pads, but the vacuum. It picks up all this little pieces that would be annoying to get up with a broom/brush and dustpan. A quick once over usually gets everything and I use it as I clean the floors with a vinegar/water solution to make sure i get all the little bits of hair and dirt that wind up on the floor.
The filter is pretty easy to clean if you don't mind getting your hands dirty plucking the dusty mess off the filter. I'm always shocked at how much this thing picks up. I've only had it for a month, so i hope I don't have the issue of the suction failing, though if that's the case, at around $12, it's relatively inexpensive to pick up a new one. I totally recommend this for individuals with hardwood or Pergo floors because it just makes life so much easier.
The only time I'll need my broom now is to sweep off my porch. THANK YOU SWIFFER! :)
