Customer Reviews of Swiffer WetJet Spray, Mop Floor Cleaner Starter Kit (Packaging May Vary)Customer Review: Removies stains well, won't pick up dirt or dust. Summary: 2 Stars
I purchased this Swiffer Wet Jet about three months ago as a substitution for a mop, and I have found the results it provides me with to be mixed. It does an excellent job of removing liquid stains from a hard floor- it will mop over dried spilt coffee, juice, etc very quickly and leave no trace of the stain. Additionally, the Swiffer specific liquid will clean the floor without leaving it sticky and has a fresh scent that is not overpowering.
However, the Swiffer also has a variety of drawbacks that impact its performance. Although it does well with liquid stains, dust and dirt do not respond well to the Swiffer pad or the liquid. The Swiffer WetJet claims to trap dirt, but I have found that instead it will push clumps of dirt, soaked by the liquid, around without picking them up. These dirt clumps then dry and stick to the floor and become even harder to remove. For this reason, I recommend using a dust buster or similar device on a floor before using the Swiffer. Alternatively, spraying the floor with the Swiffer cleaning solution then using the Swiffer Vacuum to both pick up dust and dirt and remove tough floor stains works well.
Additionally, the pads seem unnecessarily large for the amount of work they can do. They do not seem to work any better than the standard Swiffer pads and are more expensive. Although the Wet Jet feature that spreads and mists the Swiffer cleaning fluid is helpful, I also find that this uses a larger amount of liquid than is necessary and obviously no other brand of floor cleaner will fit in the Wet Jet.
In sum, the Swiffer Wet Jet does a good job cleaning tough stains but a very poor job picking up dust, dirt, and other solid objects and is probably not the best device of its type you can buy.
Customer Review: Oh Boy! Swiffer had mind of its own Summary: 2 Stars
I bought the Swiffer around 3 months ago. My floors are ceramic tile and hardwood. So this was perfect for daily clean-ups. It worked fine for a month or so but then all h*ll broke loose! First the battery contacts started to pop out. And every time I went to replace it the batteries would not fit in the compartment correctly. After around 10 minutes they finally stayed put. I would close the hatch to the compartment and pushed the button to squirt the liquid, the latch would pop back open..from the bottom and I had to start putting the contacts and batteries back in. Well finally some how I got it working again, and I say that with a wink of a eye because once I pushed the squirt button..it would not turn off!! I had to TAKE the batteries out for it to stop! By that time cleaning fluid is all over the place and I needed another mop to get it all up. Almost a half of bottle ended up on my kitchen floor. Thank god I have twisted sense of humor, because it was like a being in the middle of a bad movie...Swiffer, ALIEN from outer space. I went to the store the next day and I almost got another one (mind control from the Alien), but I got the clorax mop...it was cheaper then the grap-it. It requires no batteries and the liquid doesn't have a smell to it. So far so good. One last thing I have asthma and I found the cleaning liquid smell for the Swiffer bothered me a little when I used it for a whole floor, very overwhelming smell that took a while to get rid of. And it is also much more expensive then the other 2 products on the market plus you need to buy 4AA batteries. So keep some handy. I gave it 2 stars for it worked fine until it started to act up.
Customer Review: Swiffer Wet Jet is environmentally poor and doesn't work well anyway Summary: 1 Stars
I just bought a Swiffer Wetjet and am not pleased with it. I have a very small kitchen and after sweeping the floor I used the Wetjet. First I was disappointed that it didn't clean the floor easily, and using the scrubber was awkward. Then the pad was saturated in dirt and after cleaning such a small area I was going to have to throw away the cleaning pad.
We can't afford to replace the pads that frequently. We purchased a replacement box of 24 pads for over $16. On top of that, I do NOT like those pads. They are like mini-disposable diapers, with a layer of plastic, which does not break down in landfills. (The very reason none of my children or grandchildren have ever been in disposable diapers.)
Had I known the pads were made of this stuff I would have never purchased this product. As far as recycling goes, this product is a giant step backwards and I cannot contribute to this by continuing to use it on those grounds alone.
So I prepared to carefully rebox it to return it to the store. That was when I discovered the Wetjet cannot be dismantled!! Now this particular unit cannot be resold to anyone else and from your company's point-of-view this is a crazy design idea. I can't even get it back into its original box, which I so carefully kept in tact.
I wanted to give you some feedback on my feelings regarding the Wetjet. I was disappointed with both its abilities, and the lack of concern for the environmental issues this product rises. I hope that Swiffer quickly deals with these important environmental issues.

Customer Review: Not Much Of A Solution Summary: 3 Stars
I've had this for over a year now and am only impressed by how little this item impresses.
While the Swiffer Starter Kit is reasonably priced, the cost of the pads as well as the different fomulas of cleaners can rack up pretty fast. It does an o.k. job, but by no means does it clean all the little nooks and crannies. If you are willing to hunker down and use a stick vac or broom before using the Swiffer, the results will be generally better.
Depending on the frequency of use and level of tracked in dirt, you may have to change your disposable pad several times during one cleaning. I have a lot of square footage so under even the best of conditions I have to change the pad a cople of times on the same floor surface. Ditto for the amount of cleaner used. Serious dirt requires more solution and more pads.
I'm not crazy about the cleaning solution as it seems kind of sticky when wet and some dirt will remain if the pad is dirty.
My preferred cleaning tool is a similar stick/base combo which affixes a micro fiber cleaning pad to the base which has a velcro surface. I wet the pad with clean warm water, squeeze it out, and affix it to the base. I clean in the same way you'd use the Swiffer(applying some pressure to dirty areas) and check the cleaning pad to see if it is dirty. When it is dirty, I either wash and squeeze out the pad or use a clean pad. The floor dries quicker without chemicals or any residue. I toss the dirty microfiber pad(s) in the washing machine when I'm through. This method works better; the floors are spotless and there is no need to buy disposable pads/cleaners.
Customer Review: I thought this was good.. until I found somthing even better Summary: 2 Stars
I got one of these a couple of months ago and at the time was fairly happy with it. I admit that I never mopped as often as I should have and actually mopped more after getting this. OK it was fun or atleast was'nt as much of a pain as mopping. IMO the drawback was the cost of the replacement pads and the unrefillable floor cleaner. In addition it does work ok at getting up spills ect and degreases but it does not disinfect. ALso although I do not have allergies the smell of the cleaner was a bit strong for me and I had to leave the room afterwards because in order for the mop to actually get up stuff you have to use more cleaner than the bottle says. I don't know if this is because of the west Texas dirt and my own family or what. Instead of a bottle lasting a 7 rooms mine only lasts 3 times in a 10 x 10 kitchen. It is easy to use but not very cost effeciant so the search continued ... And I found something much better that is just as easy to use as the WetJet but actually cleans and disenfects and you wash the pads instead of throwing them away and don't have to keep buying the cleaner...It is the BIssell Steam Mop!! which they sell here too. The Wet Jet is easy to use, works ok and for 25 bucks well It may work for your budget too but again you have to keep buying more stuff for it. Honestly I cannot stress enough however that for twice the money you can get a better product, that works a lot better at mopping up messes and disinfecting and nothing else to buy. Sorry Swiffer WetJet I have found your replacement and you are going to the garage sale.
