Customer Reviews of Swiffer WetJet Spray, Mop Floor Cleaner Starter Kit (Packaging May Vary)

Customer Review: A sock would work better.
Summary: 1 Stars

I think that people who give this product any rating other than 1-star must have a very low standard when it comes to hygiene and cleanliness. If you want to clean up a dot of catsup, then this product will work. Anything more than that, and forget it.

The review by Tina0 is the best review on this worthless piece of you-know-what! Nothing beats a real mop, but like Tina0, I needed something that would quickly clean up a sticky floor. I was pretty excited about my new gadget. And, yes, the pads look just like a diaper or napkin (with the wings cut off.)

After I used it, I was really peeved. I felt ripped off! When you use this thing, it's like you're simply spreading around the crumbs and whatnot on the floor. The "wet" solution is a complete joke. It smells very strong, so perhaps the theory is "if it smells clean, you'll think it's doing the job." Wrong!

Don't let anyone tell you that this thing works. And, don't believe anyone who tells you that the solution doesn't leave a film.

I could have used some Windex and a sock and I would've gotten better results.

Moral of the story: sometimes things that seem convenient, really aren't. I wound up purchasing a new mop ($4) and some Fabuloso ($1) and a new bucket ($3), for a total of $8!! My floors can't get cleaner than this--and the citrus Fabuloso smells wonderful. Beat that, Swiffer!

Customer Review: convenient and effective with just water
Summary: 5 Stars

I have twin toddlers and the floors get filthy fast if I don't stay right on top of cleaning them, and that just wasn't practical with a mop and bucket. This has been a great purchase for me - the floors stay much cleaner. The big advantage to this mop is that it is convenient and easy to use. A key component is there is no cord to plug in, it runs on batteries. I looked into the steamers and decided that the cord was going to make a significant difference day to day.

I refill the detergent container with water and I can swoosh it quickly over the floors any time it's needed without worrying if the toddlers step on it or breathe any scents/fumes. It cleans extremely well with just water. I'm very pleased. The first two times I refilled the container I needed to soak the top of it in very hot water for about 20 seconds before it would twist off. From the third reuse and onwards I have just been able to twist it off easily each time.

I would not have given it 5 stars if I couldn't refill the container, and if they change the design so that I can't do that I will stop using it. Although their cleaning detergent does get the floor clean, it has a strong artificial scent and I do not trust it around small children. I don't want them inhaling any of the chemicals that are so often in cleaning products and about which research keeps discovering more and more harm.

Customer Review: This Works Great For Me!
Summary: 5 Stars

First off, I have two toddlers and I am always cleaning up messes in the kitchen. After every snack, every meal, and even more than that. My toddlers are so messy that I felt I HAD to buy something to make it easier for me.

I noticed that people are complaining about it, but for me it works great. Maybe it works great for me because I also bought the Swiffer Vac + Sweeper. I use the Swiffer Vac + Sweeper first and it picks up everything, I mean EVERYTHING. It will even pick up whole Cheerios! It is like a God Sent for me since my toddlers always end up throwing Cheerios on the kitchen floor!

I noticed the Swiffer Vac really sucks up the dirt. Then what is left over, usually stains, the WetJet picks up.

I use the WetJet second and it works really really great! I don't have to get on my hands and knees anymore! The second my children spill something I just grab it and clean it up so quick. I have not ran into a stain yet that it didn't clean up, AND MY KITCHEN FLOOR IS WHITE, it cleans up ALL the stains!

It might depend on the type of floor you have, my floor is tile. It has worked great on my tile.

The only complaint is the price of the cleaning supplies. I feel like it is really worth it though, and I will pay for it just so I don't have to get on my hands and knees to scrub the floor!

Customer Review: I wish I'd bought this a lot sooner
Summary: 4 Stars

I just used this for the first time on both vinyl and hardwood. It's the cleanest my floors have been in a long time.

First, the cons:
1) Way overpriced, and you have to constantly buy overpriced cleaner refills, gazillions of overpriced pads, overpriced batteries (personally worth it to me, but buyer beware.) My kitchen and short hallway completely blackened one pad.
2) Yes, you have to sweep first, as it clearly states upfront.
3) Even with thorough sweeping, I found it pushed a black line of crud in front of it in many places. I carried around a paper towel for occasionally swiping this up.

The pros:
1) It gets behind the toilets - no more crawling back there on hands and knees. Yay! Worth it right there.
2) Both the hardwood and vinyl felt very clean, as clean as when I've cleaned them on my hands and knees.
3) My spouse will still be conscripted to mop occasionally. But even with my back problems, I can get clean floors, any time, painlessly.
4) It's faster than mopping. This is particularly true for hardwood, because we normally dry the floor with a towel after mopping to keep water from sitting on our nice maple floor. This step can be skipped with Swiffer WetJet.

Biggest pro: it works. Biggest con: $$$$$

Customer Review: labor saving and effective
Summary: 5 Stars

I've had it for probably less than a month. I saw one in a commercial on TV and i thought, "that would be great." I took it out of the packaging, cleaned the kitchen floor with it in about 3 minutes or less, it did a nice job, i like the smell, it's a mild pleasant smell, i dont' like perfume and chemical smells and would always prefer unscented stuff, but this one doesn't put me off, and it doesn't last very long. I don't know what else to say about it except that it's simple, easy to use, effective, inexpensive (worth a try for me even after reading a lot of bad reviews). I also mopped the bathrooms and have cleaned the kitchen floor at least 3 times and the liquid cleanser doesn't seem to be getting used up. I went out and bought a couple more bottles of it to have on hand and got a supply of the pads. I'm happy with it. I can count the times in my life that i mopped with a real mop on the fingers of two hands, I had someone else clean my house while i was out working at my job, but the wetjet is fun, i love using it, and i'm going to do my own housecleaning from now on. I also have the Swiffer sweeper and the duster. it's fast, fun and it works. it's worth the cost of the supplies for me, i don't consider them very expensive anyway, i got the liquid stuff for about $5 at OSH and i think it will last several cleanings.
