Customer Reviews of Swiffer WetJet Spray, Mop Floor Cleaner Starter Kit (Packaging May Vary)

Customer Review: Don't know what people are complaining about...
Summary: 5 Stars

I have to say... I must be lucky or something. I have never had a problem with my swiffer wet jet -- except the time I put a pad on upside down... or should I say downside up :) I rarely fill out these review things, but I think only the angry are reviewing this product, so I had to write. I LOVE the product. It is true, you have to get up as much free roaming dirt and particulates as possible before using it. I use the regular swiffer first and a dustbuster occasionally (I bet the combo swiffer with the vacuum would work great). If you do that and you don't have a huge mess to clean, this thing works great. It does leave chemical on the floor, which will spot on shiny tile, but for matte tile and other sealed flooring, it works wonderfly with NO build up -- it doesn't smell bad either. The batteries last a long time. The cleaner does too if you don't spray it all over the place -- a little goes a long way. Foe the people who worry about "disinfecting" the floor... you are nuts. One stroll across the floor and the bacteria/viruses are BAAAAACK, and who eats off the floor anyway... babies maybe... good for their immune systems, I say. FYI Steam cleaning the floor doesn't kill anything. I have one of those too, this is better. I have written enough! Get one and try it!

Customer Review: I would give this product a negative score if I could
Summary: 1 Stars

I tried this just see how it would work as the concept is quite intriguing. So lets talk about whats wrong.
I have too different types of floors I tried it on. One is Pergo and the other is a Wilson-art laminate (tavertine look). Both floors had the same results.

1) The solution
Seems to work ok. BUT it leaves streaks similar to what you see with Windex when you don't wipe it down properly. You have to apply downward force to get it to not streak...ok now I'm actually working harder than just a basic mop. There must be something else wrong here? On to the next point.

2) The pads
Seriously? If I could write several expletives, you'd see a string of them here. The pad is thin and smooth. It does nothing, even on a smooth Pergo floor. Test if yourself just to see how embarrassing this product is. After I did the floor, I used my older mop that had a cotton pad...it was black after a couple swipes.

I was another sucker who wanted to try this product out and I'll admit that. But why on earth this product would have any more than 1 star I staggering. People need to rate this product so it stops cluttering closets and landfills.

Swifter wet jet, please give up and stop wasting people's money!

Customer Review: I love my Swiffer.
Summary: 5 Stars

I can't believe all the bad reviews for this product! A Swiffer sweeper and a Wet Jet are all you ever need for clean floors! My mother is a clean freak and I hate cleaning, but we both love Swiffer products. Most of our house has laminate flooring. The bathrooms have tile. Unless the floors are really dirty, we can clean the whole house with a single cleaning pad. A bottle of cleaning solution lasts several weeks and we clean our floors about twice a week. There is absolutely no need to use tons of solution. I also have extremely sensitive skin and a lot of allergies, and don't find the cleaning solution to be any more offensive than other cleaning products. In fact, it isn't nearly as irritating as most cleaning products. The solution also dries amazingly fast. By the time I am finished cleaning the last room, the rest are dry already. My mother has compared the Wet Jet and old fashioned floor scrubbing on her hands and knees. She has found the Wet Jet to be just as effective. Maybe a household with big dogs and/or children will have harder to clean floors, but we have 2 teenages, 3 adults, and 2 indoor/outdoor cats and Swiffer products do a fine job of cleaning the house to my mother's high standards.

Customer Review: Works for me
Summary: 4 Stars

I have had a WetJet for 2 years now and I am pretty happy with it. One caveat I would make is that I also own a Rooma vaacuuming robot. I use the Roomba almost every other day and it picks up every single speck of dust so the floor is clean, clean, clean. Then, unless I spill something wet I only WetJet once a month or so.

I also have a very active toddler who loves to spill stuff on the floor.

The major drawback to the WetJet is the cost of supplies. I did some research and there are ways you can remove the top of the cleaning container (with pliers) or make a small hole in the bottom of the bottle and plug it with a gasket and refill that way with your own solution. I also took a washable mop head cover from my old hardwood floor mop and scrunched up the excess cloth with a safety pin to attach it to the mop head and it is working just fine. I believe the method washable mop covers will also fit. So if you are willing to endure some inconvenience to refill the solution I would recommend this product.

On the other hand, I recommend the Roomba without reservation. I love it and even bought a 2nd upgraded model so I can give the old one to my aunt.

Customer Review: Great Product!!! Easy to modify to be perfect!
Summary: 4 Stars

I love my swiffer but give it 4 stars because of the minor inconveniences it takes to get it perfect.

Pads:
I use the "Method O-Mop All Floor Microfiber Mop Pad". These work great despite being a little larger than the swiffer pads. Also they are reusable (machine washable) and hence end up being much cheaper than the disposable pads.

Liquid Cleaner:
You can actually use your favorite cleaner. You have two choices to get the bottle opened.
1) Use a pair of pliers to unscrew the bottle cap on the "top of the bottle". Pour in your cleaner and screw back.
2) Drill a hole (about 1/2 inch in diameter)on the "bottom of the bottle" that faces up when you mop. Pour in your favorite cleaner and use a cork stopper. This is what I use because I never have to take the bottle out of my swiffer. Also best to get a small funnel when you pour in your cleaner into the bottle - makes it a lot easier. You can easily find assorted cork stoppers and funnels for cheap on Amazon or other sites.

With these adjustments, my swiffer works perfectly.

Enjoy!
