Customer Reviews of Swiffer WetJet Spray, Mop Floor Cleaner Starter Kit (Packaging May Vary)

Customer Review: Good for small, fast jobs
Summary: 2 Stars

While the WeJet may be fast and convenient, it's only really useful for small jobs - for instance, a few muddy pawprints on the kitchen floor or an orange juice spill.

The WetJet is very convenient - you don't have to fill a bucket of water and lug it around with you to mop. The kit is easy to assemble, and the pad just sticks on to the mop.

However, the pad doesn't pick up everything that a mop would. You have to vacuum or sweep before using the WetJet, as the pad only picks up a small amount of debris and just pushes the rest around on the floor. I only have tile in my kitchen and entryway (the rest of the house is hardwood) - so I only clean a small area with the WetJet. Yet, one pad doesn't seem to be enough. They're also rather expensive, as is the cleaning solution (although I suspect you could just as well put PineSol in the container and get the same results). Also, the WetJet is rather loud when dispensing the solution, and it gets annoying after awhile.

Bottom line: it's great for small messes that you need to clean up quickly, but stick to a mop and bucket for bigger jobs.

Customer Review: A five-star product, but so [$$$]!
Summary: 4 Stars

I held out on getting this for a long time, thinking that maybe they would come down in price after their competition introduced similar products. When the competition arrived, and the price did not lower, I bit the bullet and bought the WetJet.
I am very impressed with its cleaning capabilities. This works far better than its predecessor, the Swiffer Wet. I found myself having to change the cloth constantly on that one. This cleans our whole kitchen floor with one cloth, and could go for more!
My only complaint about this is that it is awfully [$$$] for what is essentially a paper towel on a stick with a sprayer attached. I suppose this is the price for convenience. But this definitely beats the heck out of the days of the old-fashioned mop, and the cleaner in the sprayer loosens even very tough dirt spots- our dog tends to drag in mud after we let her outside, and we sometimes forget to wipe off her paws before we let her in.
All in all a great product, but I do wish they weren't so [$$$]- and I hope the replacement cleaner and wipes come down in price soon too!

Customer Review: For this price, can't get any better
Summary: 4 Stars

For around $20, you can't really beat this thing. A regular wet mop is going to cost you half that, you've still got to sweep or vacuum, you've got to lug buckets around and wait an hour before you can walk on your floor, and after a few uses it's putting more dirt on than it takes off so you've got to buy another one. I've got very worn old wood floors so the pads and solution lasts slightly less time than the manufacturer's estimate but I still get a fair bit of use out of them. It loses a star because you HAVE to refill the solution with the name brand product, but you can always wet the floor with something else if you really object to paying the $4 and just use the Swiffer as a mop. The replacement pads are a bit expensive, but you can buy generic ones which work if you search around the dollar stores. It does a GREAT job on my linoleum halls and kitchen and the tile bathroom. I especially like it because I can get in all the nooks and crannies (eg behind the toilet) with it, and best of all it pickes up the cat hair which sweeping and vacuuming invariably leaves behind.

Customer Review: ok for small jobs
Summary: 3 Stars

I got the swiffer because I liked the idea of throwing away the pad when you were done. I hate to dump gross mop water, so this seemed like a good solution. Unfortunately, it seems to mostly just push around the dirt and leaves lines of dirt when I lift it up. I vacuum or sweep before using it- I also would before using a traditional mop, but with this you REALLY have to make sure you get all of the particles. That usually just leaves the 'spots' on the floor, which the Swiffer doesn't always get, no matter how hard you try to scrub. It's also hard to spray those spots, becuase it sprays a couple of feet ahead, and you can't always predict where it will spray. It's also not the best solution for tile floors, because it won't get anything in recessed grout lines. The pads are also expensive, and I've joked with my husband about just slapping a maxi-pad to the swiffer! Far more cost-effective! As a final blow to its usefulness, the battery hatch keeps popping off while in use. AHHH!
We still use it if we're in a hurry, but it in no way replaces regular mopping.

Customer Review: The worst machine ever
Summary: 1 Stars

Tired of lugging a mop and bucket around I decided to try the swiffer wet jet. It was one of the biggest wastes of money ever. When I first assembled the swiffer I noticed that the cleansing cloth looked exactly like a sanitary napkin, but I thought I'll give it a shot. I swept my floor, just like I do when I mop, then I took the swiffer to it. First I noticed the spry shoots liquid quite a ways in front of the machine. So I would come up to a dirty patch and end up shooting liquid behind it. Even when I managed To get the solution on the spot the swiffer would not get it up it has no scrubbing capabilities at all. After I was done I would always end up with lines of dust all over where the swiffer pushed any small particles the broom couldn't get up along the floor. Bottom line this machine is an over price pad on a stick. It's only use would be to clean up liquid spills in the kitchen and even then it's absorption rate leaves something to be desired.I used the swiffer weekly on my kitchen and foyer neither of which gets much traffic.
