Everyone reviewed this product in a very positive manner. I purchased this and compared the results vs my Body Fat Test at the Dr Office - and this device was off considerably ! I also purchased a Taylor Branded Body Fat Analyzer that apparently offers the same technology to measure body fat - and it was extremely close to the results that I received from my Dr.
I also question the additional "Innerscan" body percentages. When I called Tanita Customer Service, they could not justify Bone, Muscle Mass, and Metabolic Age readings and were extremely vague in the interpretation of the features.
Even though Tanita was the first to offer Body Fat Monitors...I would say first is not best !

I purchased this scale 5 years ago and recently had an error message come up. I emailed Tanita and the regional representative contacted me by email. He had me check with new batteries and clean the contacts. Then he cross-referenced my model and lot numbers and said that my scale was still under warranty and if it met the warranty criteria would be replaced. Tanita has a 10 year warranty on this scale and my scale was 5 years old. He gave me an RMA# to submit with my receipt (which is required and I conveniently downloaded from Amazon from a purchase made 5 years ago!!) and about 10 days later I had my replacement scale!! I orded this for my wife after she had gastric bypass surgery. This is the brand her doctors office uses. They told me it was the most accurate. I got it home and put in the battries. Now, it looks nice and has lots of pretty buttons, but that is all it has. The display would not work, no matter what I did accoriding to tech support (which was pain to deal with) I could not get the display to work. Then by pure chance, it worked. But, the weight was not right. I am not a huge guy, but it told me I weighted over 400 lbs. (I was at my doctors office the week before and I weighed 254 lbs). I sent it back and went with a Tanita, but a smaller model, works great. Don't waste your time on this.Customer Review: Tanita BC554 Ironman Scale

I love this scale and all the data it gives. For my purposes, I pay particular attention to the fat%, water% and muscle mass% and, depending on the differences in those numbers, I can adjust my workouts to focus on lowering the fat% and increasing muscle mass% while maintaining weight--valuable info that one cannot get with just a weight scale. I do notice that it consistently weighs 1/2 lb. lower than my Weight Watcher scale--I use both scales. At least the weight difference is consistent. I would highly recommend this scale to anyone who is interested in a more wholistic perspective of what's going on with their body while monitoring weight and workout effects.Customer Review: Well Worth the Money

A question of accuracy! This scale is the very first I have ever used to actually agree with the measurements taken when I visit the doctor. Even my doctor was impressed with everything this baby could do.
Use. You must weigh yourself in your bare feet, otherwise the internal scanner will not work properly. Once it does, look out! Perhaps one of the most important items it tells you is how many calories it takes to maintain your body "AS IS". This then becomes the figure to beat to lose weight. There's one more thing I get a real kick out of... and that is when it tells me I have a metabolism of a person less than my age.
