Customer Reviews of Tanita BF679W Duo Scale Plus Body Fat Monitor with Body WaterCustomer Review: A great scale at a reasonable price Summary: 5 Stars
Personally, I think this is a great scale. It gives consistant readings, never jumping around like my old cheaper digital scale, and I like being able to see my exact weight down to 1/5 of a pound. It's easy to use, as long as you follow the directions (you have to remember to stand on it as directed, and make sure your feet are clean!). I don't know how eaxctly accurate the body fat and body water percentages are, but they seem to be in the correct range, and are very consistant as well. The only real drawback to this product is that it's pretty ugly, but I think with it's consistant results, and reasonable price, it's a great deal. I am very glad that I purchased it.
Customer Review: Not what it is cracked up to be! Summary: 1 Stars
I read all the reviews for this scale and decided to order it. I wish I hadn't. Everyone kept going on and on about how accurate it was and how it's reading were consistent. Every single time I step on this scale it gives me a different weight. It can range from half a pound to two pounds within a thirty second time frame. There are four pads that your heals and toes are suppose to make contact with and they are raised up from the rest of the surface and it makes it feel very awkward to stand on. If I had purchased this at a store, I would have definitely taken it back. I don't feel like spending more money to ship it back though. Don't waste your money.
Customer Review: BF with hydration... the right metric Summary: 4 Stars
Forget your overall weight... work on re-composing your body... in other words: Getting your body fat down. Great scale for this. Accurate as I had a impendance type measure done by medial pros and it came out the same. One note... you must reach your full hydration level in order for body fat measures to be accurate. If you aren't properly hydrated as indicated by the scale then ignore the body fat calc... it would be inaccurate. Accurate if hydration is up though and a particulary good diet performance measure. You can actually determine in which direction you are progressing... remember you can be a thin person and have too much body fat!!!
Customer Review: Tanita BF679W Summary: 4 Stars
Thanks to all the other reviewers out there as I honed in on this product after reading other reviews excluding other products. As others have recorded this scale weighs a little lighter than my old mechanical scale but not enough to be a distraction. What I'm really thrilled about is it shows small differences and is a great comparison to what happens with my weight day by day. I don't as yet have much use for the body fat index or other features but the accuaracy of the weight reading makes it well worth the money. I had taken back a couple of digital scales purchased locally as they weren't accuate and varied quite a bit from use after use.
Customer Review: If you have muscles consider a different scale Summary: 2 Stars
If you have any muscle at all, get another scale. This scale assumes you have the physique of a water balloon (only filled with blubber), the muscle mass of rubber bands and the skeletal structure of tooth picks; like you've already made the evolutionary leap to the futuristic humans as they appear in the movie, Wall-E. After plugging my data into the scales, I was shocked to be told my % body fat was 10 % points higher than other scales I have used (usually 28%) in the past. When the same height and age entered but a theoretical male gender used instead of female, the % body fat dropped to 25% (dropped 14% points). Not pleased.
