The Tanita BF680W Duo Scale is very simple to use and gives very consistent readings. I've been using it to monitor my body fat in addition to my weight. The key to getting consistent readings for body fat percentage definitely seems to be consistency in time of day the measurements are taken. I always weigh myself first thing in the morning.
The scale stores height, age, and sex information for 2 different users. It is easy to program these functions. The body fat percentage indicator goes in .1 increments. This is definitely a nice feature that many of the cheaper units do not offer. This is a great, simple to use product that I would recommend for anyone interested in monitoring not just their weight but also their body fat and water percentages.

Bought this scale after studying lots of owner reviews. My experience after about six weeks, matches best with the top reviews. The scale works correctly right out of the box. Setting up the data for two main users was relatively simple. Using the scale every day reveals that the unit functions reliably. It is sensitive and responds to daily changes in eating patterns, exercise activities and fluid intake. BMI and total body water percentage numbers remain very steady even though weight will fluctuate 2-3 pounds in a week. I can't say whether the BMI and TBW number are accurate in and of themselves, but they serve me well as reference points. I would certainly recommend this scale to other folks who want something more than a spring-based bathroom scale.Customer Review: Accurate weight and body fat

I did some research and bought the Tanita BF-680W based on several reviews. I realize that the body fat measurements probably need to be followed as trends rather than absolute numbers(percentage). However, I also bought an Accu-Measure pinch body fat caliper. Both the Accu-Measure and the Tanita measurements were exactly the same, about 18-20% on the Accu-measure, 19.4% on the Tanita (several measurements). My body weight was also the same as that measured on two different scales at my gym. The instructions were clear and it was easy to program. I am pretty average weight and build (170 lbs, 5' 10") and the algorithms are doing a pretty good job for me. I can't say what the results would be for an body type further out on the extreme.Customer Review: my review

I tested the scale accuracy against the body fat monitor at a wellness fair and against several other scales. Using the normal setting the results were similar, about a 1% variance. But in the atheletic modethe results were way off. I workout about 5 to 6 days a week, cycling/lifting/running. It showed that I had 8.5% body fat. In the regular mode it shows about 18.5% body fat. Although I like the athletic mode results, I know that the regular mode is more realistic. I have wrote to Tanita but no response yet. My friends scale (same one) gives the same results. But overall I am satisfied with the scale. Homemedic or something like that has a scale that gives a little more information. So do your research.Customer Review: Beep beep beep beep beep beep beep

The scale works great, the body fat is as repeatable as can be expected from a scale. But the scale BEEPS and you cant mute it. To take a complete measurement it beeps when you turn it on, beeps when it is ready for you to step on the scale, beeps when it gets weight, beeps twice when it gets bodyfat and twice more when it gets water. SEVEN beeps. Not terribly loud but piercing. I am an early riser and like to weigh first thing in the morning, but the glares I got from my spouse after being awoken by the beeps may require me returning the product. He is a heavy sleeper and often sleeps through his alarm, but this scale in the bathroom with a closed door woke him up.
