Customer Reviews of Taylor 5596G Body fat-Body Water Scale with Bone and Muscle Mass FeaturesCustomer Review: Decent functionality and value Summary: 4 StarsThe Taylor 5596G scale so far worked well, and I am quite happy with my product choice. There are a few minor things that I think Taylor could improve (I haven't seen anything in the manual that would allow to lower/disable the quite ear splitting beep when a memory setting is recalled; and if you step of the scale immediately after the measurement, the numbers are not shown three times as said in the manual but instead only once for like < 2 seconds each, which is too short to memorize all of them).
Other than that, the weighing seems to be "reliable" (no indication so far of unexplained fluctuation), but the fat percentage seems (as with most foot-only impedance measurements) somewhat questionable (in its range of values, say evening 13.5%, next morning 17.1%). Yet, if you step on the scale at pretty much exactly the same "time" of the day (like immediately after getting up), the values are pretty comparable over days and correctly show the trend (I took the effort and weighed myself twice every day for three weeks and the trend from morning-to-morning measurement pretty much always showed in the average over the week).
So, besides the little issues mentioned above, it seems to be a fair-priced product (not taking into account reports of users who said it doesn't have a very long life, about which I can't say anything as of yet...)
Customer Review: can't figure it out Summary: 1 Starspurchased the Taylor scale and can't figure out how to do anything with it other than weight. suppose to measure body fat, muscle mass and bone mass, all it does is the weight - not worth it
Customer Review: Great Item Summary: 5 StarsThis is a great scale that records everything you ever wanted to know about yourself. all that's missing is a daily fortune.
Customer Review: My almost unbiased opinion Summary: 1 StarsI purchased this scale despite of the reviews I've been reading because of the price and features. I had it for two days now and I've decided that it is pretty unaccurate as they say. The 3 different times I would step on it, it would give me a 10 lbs difference between the 3 readings. I also have a basic scale that just gives the weight so after going on this Taylor scale, I went on the basic one (same placement on floor) and it definately gives a different reading from the Taylor.
Customer Review: Taylor Scale Review Summary: 4 StarsThe Taylor 5596G Body fat - Body Water Scale with Bone and Muscle Mass features works pretty well. It is a bit confusing to go from just selecting your weight to get the body fat and other measurements. However, once it is working as you asked it to, it provides good results quickly. Make sure your feet are slightly damp to get the best measurements for everything but your weight. Watch out, it can be addicting if you keep it in the bathroom.
