There may only be seven reviews for this scale, but there's a reason that all seven of us have rated this product with 5 stars; it is a marvelous machine. You get 5 numbers: weight, body fat, muscle mass, water percentage and bone mineral mass. There is an athletic setting and a regular setting. When I checked body fat (the most examined number) in both athletic and regular mode, the range of fat seemed consistent with a range for my height, weight and build. Obviously, each user will choose the setting that seems most accurate to them (athletic or normal).
The only issue that I have with the scale is in the length of time that information is displayed. Weight is flashed three times and then is solid for about 5 seconds before the scale turns itself off. As well, the body percentages cycle three times before they turn off. I would prefer for the numbers to show as long as you are on the scale. I think that the manufacturers designed it that way to preserve battery life.
Nevertheless, if you do repeated tests within the same time span, you get consistent results (no variations). So, the consistency alone is the main reason for getting this scale. I highly recommend this product. Even if you just use it for the scale it's worth it.
Customer Review: GOOD FOR THOSE WITH GOOD EYES

As with other reviewers, I had to read the instructions a few times. Once I programmed my body info into it, I had no problems. It's a nice-looking scale (albeit with a flimsy plastic handle at the bottom). It appears to give consistent readings, although I have no way to verify if the bone mass, or muscle/water/fat readings are actually accurate.
If all you want is body weight, just step on the scale. However, If you want the bone mass, water content, fat % or muscle %, then you press the "set" button and allow it to enter the correct mode, then step on with moistened feet. There are metal sensors that apparently send impulses through you feet. (You can't feel anything at all.)
My only gripe is the display flashes each reading way too fast, (2 seconds for each of the 5 cycles) and the bone/fat/water/muscle indicator is VERY small. I have average eyesight, but to see a 12 font from 6 feet away, I have to run the sequence 2 or 3 times just to read each function. This is irritating. I assume the small icons and quick sequences are designed to preserve the lithium watch battery; but repeating the function 2-3 times ends up wasting battery power.

I bought this because I like the sleek design and I was excited about the features. You can save the height and age for multiple people but it does not save your weight, BMI, or other statistics. I am disappointed with this purchase for a few of reasons. First, the box the scale came in appeared to be opened and the scale had water marks on it straight out of the box. The packaging was not good. The scale arrived into a very large brown box with crumbled up newspaper print. The box is huge compared to the actual product. When you stand on the scale it doesn't always turn on. Pushing buttons doesn't even turn it on sometimes. I usually have to remove the batteries and replace them in order to get it to work. The last problem with this scale is minor but it does bother me: Every time you step on it, it dips down and makes a noise. It feels unstable and as if it will break- and I weigh about 140.
As for accuracy: The weight seems to be right on target. I honestly haven't really tracked the other features because I've had so many problems with it.
I definitely plan on returning this scale on Monday.

I started a diet protocol that requires keeping track of the five functions that this scale provides. Over that past five weeks I have found the scale easy to set up, accurate in it's readings, and consistant in the results.
I was concerned that this scale would not deliver the information reliably based on some of the other reviews. I found those reviews to be wrong. Perhaps those that are getting inconsistant numbers don't have them on a solid surface like vinyl or tile. Carpet provides too much variable cusion to be reliable. I did find that BF, H2O, MM, and BD numbers read the best when I made sure my feet were still wet from the shower and not just moist from the absorbtion of the bath mat.
I was concerned that my wife would not like the contemporary look of the stainless and glass, but she really likes that fact that it looks more like an accessory than the traditional cluncky old bathroom scale we are so used to seeing. This scale delivers in all arenas and recieves my highest recommendation. Good Job Taylor!!

Customer Review: 57.6% Body Fat (error)

I've been using this scale for over a year. No battery problems and the weight is always very close to my doctors' scales. Fluctuations in % water and % muscle seem reasonable. Bone mass appears to be a preset value and the user guide provides no info on what values are low/normal/high.
Despite major fluctuations in weight (45 lbs), my percentage body fat has always displayed 57.6%. Being obese, I figured I had just topped out the scale. However, I finally googled that value, and the scale model, and confirmed that exceeding the scale limit would display an ERR. Others have had the exact same problem & 57.6 value display with this model. There are no solutions and the TaylorUSA website does not provide any support for specific scale models.
I performed multiple resets (battery removal, reinstall & recal) with no success. I've written to the manufacturer and will update if I receive any resolution from them. Otherwise, considering that I wanted this scale specifically to trend my body fat, I consider it a waste of money.
