Customer Reviews of Taylor 7009 Electronic Lithium Scale

Customer Review: Accurate scale
Summary: 5 Stars

I have owned this scale for about a week. First of all, the manual is well written, simple, and accurate. Both my mother and I use the scale and have found it to be accurate as compared to our old analog scale. To be honest, our old scale gave varying readings of 1 and 2 pound differences with each repeated weighing at 1-minute intervals. The Taylor 7009 gave consistent readings under the same test everytime except once where the pound difference was up by 0.5.

The scale is relatively small, neat, and gorgeous with its black and silver finish. It has quite a slim profile, and it does feel solid and seems durable, but only time will tell if it is durable. The display is large and the numbers are very easy to read. On the topic of the display, it must be noted that the scale gives a reading within 3 to 4 seconds of standing on it, and it dutifully turns itself off after a few seconds. (I believe this is why the battery would be able to last a lifetime as the manufacturer promises).

It is very sensitive, so it is advisable that once you stand on it, remain as still as possible, because too much movement will result in an Error message on the display. This is easily resolved by stepping off and then on the scale again.

In short, this is a beautifully made scale which functions the way it should - accurately.

Customer Review: Good deal for the money paid
Summary: 4 Stars

I bought this scale for my wife, but I have also started using it. Some of the pros and cons are:

Pros:
1) The scale has a large LED and hence it is easy to read the reading.
2) The scale is sensitive and though it shows weight only in the increments of 1/2 pound, it is pretty sensitive in this range.
3) The scale is sturdy, yet light weight. The unit is not bad at all to look at too.
4) The reading takes only about 4 seconds to get generated and thats a little better than my last scale.

Cons:

1) The scale is small. It is perfect for my wife, but for my feet size 10, I have to carefully position myself otherwise I get a failed reading.
2) I would have preferred to have the controls (pound/kilos etc.) on the side of the scale rather than on the bottom.
3) The number of failed readings (Err) was roughly 1 in 5 when we started using the product. But at the end of sixty days it has gone upto 1 in 3 (when my wife uses it) and 3 in 4 (when I use it).

Overall, we were happy with the performance of the product for the first month and half and thought that it has been a good purchase for the amount paid. However if the number of failed readings increase any further (with time or usage), the product would be a failure.

Customer Review: Works great.

I haven't been able to compare the accuracy of the scale, but from morning to night my bodyweight seems to have varied a more than acceptable amount reported by the scale, so I assume it's accurate.

It's just a digital readout of your weight. No BMI, no Fat %, nothing like that. Just a scale. On carpets it does warn that it may take a little bit longer to get an accurate reading since the carpet is obviously softer and moves more than a hard floor, and they're right. If you can keep your balance (depending on how thick your carpet is), it's not a problem.

It doesn't feel particularly flimsy, and I'm not afraid about where I put my feet. The readout is clear and big enough to see.

It also has a "lifetime" battery, and while I'm sure that it will eventually run out, from what the manual implied it should last a good long while before then.

Really, the only thing I could get nitpicky about is the size of it. It doesn't fit my feet, but with Size 15 Men's, that's hard to do with anything, and it's only the tip of my toes that hang over.

Overall, pleased with it. If you're just looking for a scale that won't tell you the time and temperature along with your weight, give it a try.

Customer Review: If you want to weight 3-5lb more get this scale.
Summary: 1 Stars

Ive owned the Taylor 7000 for years but was looking to replace it. I found the new and improved 7009. I weighed myself on it and I was 3.5lb heavier than the older scale. So I did a weight comparison test. I weighed a gallon of milk on both scales. It came out to 9lb each scale. So I weighed myself again and got the 3.5lb difference again. So the milk weighs the same on both scales but I dont? I've been weighed at my doctors office 1 day ago with clothes and shoes on at 128lb but when I get on the scale au natural it says I weight 131.5 So... I decided to weigh my shoes.. they weigh 3 lb. My jeans 1 lb. so 4 lb minus 128 is 124. I somehow gained 7.5 lb in a few hours. I get on my old 7000 and it says I weight 128 just like the doc's office.

Honestly.. I dont think there is any scale on the market today that can accurately tell you how much you truly weigh. You are better off going to a carnival and having that guy guess your weight.... he would be more accurate than this scale.

Customer Review: Great scale!
Summary: 5 Stars

I got this scale about a week ago and absolutely love it! Don't get fooled by its size - it's smaller and thinner than some other scales so you can store it more easily. It's very precise - I even tried weighting myself several times in a row and always got the same reading!
It has a little switch on the bottom so you can choose whether you want your weight shown in pounds or kilograms. Based on your settings, it displays weight in either 0.2 kg or 0.5 lb increments.
If you store the scale elsewhere than where you weigh yourself, the manual prompts you to step on the scale, and then step off regardless of the reading. Then you step on it again and weigh yourself as usual. That way the scale adjusts itself to the different surface and the reading is more accurate.
Overall, I would recommend this product.
