First of all, the photo on the web page does not do the scale justice. It's really a beautiful work of art in addition to being a great scale. A clear tempered glass surface covers four chrome covered strain gauge sensors as well as a large LCD display. After the scale has resolved your weight, the display will blink, then hold for a few seconds to allow you to get off and still read the display. Accuracy, measured against a known weight, was right on the button. As far as repeatability, I have weighed as many as five times in a row and gotten exactly the same reading each time. I noted several reviews reporting that the scale failed after two or three weeks, so I waited about three months to write this review. At this time I have had absolutely no problems and highly recommend the scale to anyone wanting a good, accurate, reliable, and attractive unit.Customer Review: Outstanding accuracy!

We bought this scale to replace an old digital model (not a Taylor product) we've had for years. We knew the old one was not giving an accurate reading and wanted to get something better. After reading reviews in a well-known consumer magazine we chose this top-rated scale. This also happened to be one of the best values with regard to the price. We received the scale quickly, actually a day before we expected it (Great job Amazon!) and immediately tried it out. It is easy to use - no tap of the foot, just get on. What is even more impressive is the accuracy. We checked our weight right before we would be weighed on a calibrated scale. We found with great pleasure that the new Taylor scale and the calibrated scale had given the exact same reading.
We highly recommend this scale to anyone interested in finding out exactly how much they weigh.

After reading the reviews posted for this scale, I thought I should chime in and confirm what appears to be a defect:
I just purchased this scale to upgrade from my current analog scale, also made by Taylor. I was immediately disappointed to find out that the readings I got from it were approximately 3 pounds heavier than the readings on my older scale. In addition, the readings I received fluctuated by as much as 2 pounds within minutes of each reading.
I asked my wife to do a side-by-side comparison with the professional balance scale at the ER where she works as a nurse. She confirmed that this model also registered about 3 pounds heavier. I will be taking this one back for a refund.
I gave it 2 stars because it really does look nice, unfortunately the performance just doesn't measure up.

This scale is wonderful. It's attractive, easy to read, very consistent, and the price is right. The picture and description on the Amazon website, however, is of an older version of the scale, which may be the one people complained about in some of the reviews. The one Consumer Reports recommends, which is the one Amazon is now shipping, is much nicer. It has more contemporary looking, slightly outward curved side bars, and it measures in 0.2 lb increments. The picture online shows the older one with straight side bars and describes measurement in 0.5 lb increments, which sent me looking elsewhere, but when I settled for ordering the older, o.5 lb one from Amazon, they sent me the fabulous new one. I purchased this scale because it was written up so well in Consumer Reports. as nearly as I can tell, Consumer's was right. This scale weighs accurately, which is more than I can say for several scales I have owned.
I also appreciate the scale's clean good looks. It is easy to clean, glass will not rust. I am way over 200 pounds and it is plenty strong enough for me.
