Customer Review: Taylor's Sandalwood Cream

I bought this in my quest for the perfect sandalwood shave.
I purchased this after my great dissatisfaction with Caswell and Massey's sandalwood soap's lather. This other sandalwood classic, Taylor of Old Bond Street, is much better, for me, than Caswell and Massey's. The Taylor's goes a long way, with only a bit on the brush being needed to give a thick lather, that recharges quickly and easily.
I would say that it does not provide as smooth a shave as I'd like. Not that I've been cutting myself, and I'm not sure that I don't need a few more shaves with this product before I say unequivocally, that the Caswell and Massey actually provides a more lubricated experience than this cream, although Taylor's cream lathers much better.
However, it is very thick and doesn't rinse from the razor so easily: you need to shake it and re-rinse it to clear the blade. Of course, my experience is a little subjective, but Taylor's isn't the best shave to be had, though I do prefer it immensely over the Caswell and Massey, which is just stupid as a shave soap.
Also, Taylor's sandalwood smell is not so awesome as the delicious smell of Caswell and Massey's. Taylor's has a more perfumey sandalwood smell than the very (to my nose) natural and woody smell of C&M. That said, the smell of Taylor's reminds me of the old cheap William's sandalwood soaps I'd buy when I was a kid, and that was all the store stocked other than the C&M. I have to admit to liking the smell, the way I like the Old Spice, or Avon: it's classic and working class and a reward for the shave. The smell lingers well, and I was catching whiffs of it mixed in with the Clubman aftershave. It smells pretty good after its been on you a while, versus the immediate scent as you're using it.
In the tub, this cream is much more concentrated than, say, Trumper's, which is my next Sandalwood cream purchase. This is like a shave paste, somewhere between a soap and a cream. My Trumper's almond cream is far and away superior to this, so I'll give their sandalwood a shot. I'm using this Taylor's exclusively this week, but I'm already looking forward to using my almond Trumper's instead.
So, I am still shopping for that perfect sandalwood shave....sigh. Maybe one that combines elements of this with the C&M. Funny, but I think this and the C&M are clearly in the same league, each with pluses, each with drawbacks. The American soap's smell is ass-kicking, the British lather, while thick, not very lubricating. Which side of the Atlantic wins here? Well, you say potato, and I say poetahto!
