The clapper is a nice gadget. It's great for being able to turn the lights on and off from the bed, when you don't want to get up and hit the switch. This unit, however, has been quite a pain. It took a lot of practice to get the clap timing just right to be able to successfully turn it on and off. The remote seems to need to have line of sight, and it rarely ever works. The unit does however turn itself on when the cats are playing near the reciever, or sometimes when the TV is on and it hears something, and even sometimes when we are just talking in the room. There is a sensitivty setting, but you need it sensitve enough to pick up your claps. Overall, it serves its purpose, it just takes some getting used to.Customer Review: Works Great at first...

I was so happy to find the Clapper Plus at Amazon after searching in all the local stores and being unable to locate one. I guess its an item that's only available around Christmas. Anyhow, it worked great, with clapping and the remote. My husband and I were very happy to use it because our bedroom is very large and it is very inconvenient to have to get out of bed to turn off the lightswitch or the lamp. After having the clapper for 33 days, it suddenly stopped working. All three of the lights stay on but the remote and clapping just don't seem to work. I can't send it back because I bought it more than 30 days ago, so I guess I'll be looking for something else to try... Don't waste your money!Customer Review: Clapper Plus from Amazon is SUPER !!

My clapper arrived on Wednesday and I am now using it with great success. Clapping is very effective...it does not fail me. Also, I have used the remote which is on my nightstand and it works perfectly too. My puppy, a tiny chihuaha, sleeps in my bed and clapping sometimes awakens him. So, when he is napping, I use the remote. I haven't used the second receptacle for an additional electrical item; so I am unable to comment at this time about how that will work. I highly recommend the clapper for those of us who are having knee surgery and preparing our homes for the rehab period.....or for anyone needing to turn electrical items on/off without getting up to do so. I am disappointed with the product. Switch II works fine but Switch III doesn't work properly. As a matter of fact, I suspect that it broke my CD player because there was a spark that occurred in the Clapper when I first used Switch III. Upon a closer look at the product, I noticed that the logo UL was nowhere to be seen. (UL is an independent safety science company. UL, or Underwriters Laboratories, has been certifying products for safety since the late 1800's. See [...]) Therefore, I am assuming that the product was not tested for safety by an independent company. I've been ordering products from Amazon for years and this is the first time I am disappointed with an order.Customer Review: Worthless

the lamp turns on and off unpredictably; sometimes it responds to a loud voice, a clanking garbage pail, laughter. Almost never responds to clap. Should be called the "keep them guessing." Even the remote, which comes with this deluxe model is unpredictable. You'd be much better off buying one of the inexpensive remote control switches also available on Amazon, but not expensively advertised on television. (I wound up replacing this with another product, after being "gas lighted" once too often by the Clapper) Someone should bring a Consumer Protection Act suit against this misleadingly advertised product.
Piece of junk. I want my money back.
