Customer Reviews of The Clapper Sound Activated On/Off Switch, 1 EachCustomer Review: light switch on your couch Summary: 4 Stars
purchased the device to turn off a floor lamp near a computer screen for less glare. the lamp is older and has twist swithches on the top. the 3 clap clapper allows me to turn off the lamp without wearing out the switches or getting up every time i wish to reduce glare on the screen. when i want to use the lamp for reading i clap 3 times and it turns on.
i have mine on the less sensititive setting and have had no clap-conflicts with music playing or with a nearby sliding door and screen.
clap timng needs to be about a second inbetween each clap. three leds on the clapper show the when a proper clap sequence is performed.
handy product.
Customer Review: Handy as all get out! Summary: 5 Stars
The Clapper is a useful item for when you are entering your house and don't have a lightswitch nearby. Those of you who do not have this problem may not understand, but those of you that do not have one handy will LOVE this item! I bought The Clapper years ago, after they marketed the two-item model that will work with two separate lights. I found it to be most helpful, and if there were ever sounds loud enough to turn it on, I would have wanted to know about it anyway, so I was not disturbed by an errant turning on of a light. I feel that The Clapper is not only a convenient tool, but it could serve as a deterrent to would-be thieves, if they end up causing it to trigger!
Customer Review: Not just for Grandma Summary: 4 Stars
Since becoming handicapped in an automobile accident, I can't easily get to lamps, fans, and other electrical devices in my home. Based on how it's advertised, I felt like an idiot asking for this gadget, but almost three years later I still use it daily. I've also acquired a Clapper Plus; the remote with that version is helpful for controlling a Clapper that's in a corner with echoes, which can sometimes prevent the Clapper from operating correctly. Because it's controlled by sound, sudden loud noises from your TV, family, or squeaky hardwood floors can set off the Clapper, which can be annoying (or amusing). If your mobility is limited, this device is extremely helpful.
Customer Review: Fart and it will work. Clap and it does nothing! Summary: 1 Stars
I must say i have been wanting one of these for so long. I bought 2 of them and i was so very extremely disappointed. It was a waste of money and my energy trying to turn this damn clapper on and off. I clapped until my palms were raw and nothing happened. But my neighbors came to check on me to see if i was clapping for help. But one night i discovered the secret to making it work. It was very simple just fart 2 times and it works. Needless to say i would have to eat Indian or mexican food every day in order to operate my lights. So i decided to go back to basics and use the switch. Do not waste your money or gas (methane) trying to get your lights to turn on and off.
Customer Review: Just does NOT work Summary: 1 Stars
The Clapper has been around for over 10 years (15? 20?), but I'd never tried one until I was given one as a present a few days ago. Let me just say this: I'm so glad I didn't waste my precious dough on this piece of junk. It's nothing more than a piece of junk, a whimsical piece of junk, a worthless piece of junk. It's frustration upon frustration to no end. It simply does not work. My palms ache from the clapping and this POS just drives me crazy. I'm throwing it into trash, period. Don't bother. (To be fair, I've heard people having better, less random results when they cough or sneeze or laugh funny, but I tried, none of these worked for me at all.)
