I got this item years ago from my PT. It is so nice for reaching those little knots and places you could never get to on your own. I use it when I just need to get a little knot out or a massaging action on tight muscles. It is well worth the price. An awesome deal. I have had mine for many, many years. It has taken a lot of "abuse". When I got mine you could only get it from a PT or such. How great it can be found here now for all. In using it sometimes, I had often wished I could get "even deeper" for really tough knots. Then I found this item ...FENIX Deluxe Self-Care Kit. It is more expensive indeed but well worth every penny. Check out my review. I still use the cane once in awhile for it is more convenient, most the time though I get out the Fenix board. It is phenomenal!!!! It will get knots out the cane never could even touch. Customer Review: great tool!

I've only had it 2 days, and already I can feel a difference in my upper back trapezio pain. It works so much better than massage because you can use it more often during the day whenever you need it, and you can feel the exact spots to concentrate on. The little booklet is very helpful too. I will probably use it every day because it feels so good!Customer Review: excellent relief

just try it...don't buy books or anythign...it's worth the money to try. but the money is not the hard part, it's the time.
some people say do a little everyday, but i found in the beginning i had to spend 90 minute sessions to find my muscles in my back, after you start finding them, then it takes less time.
Also, i find that i like to stretch and take different positions to expose certain muscles in my back to make them easier to get to. No masseur i've used was ever able to reach these spots in my back effectively. I didn't even understand how the tension in my upper neck was actually rooted in muscles that were underneath my trapezius and sort of hidden deep in and around my shoulder blade....when you find the muscle that'll all tight, it's a revelation.....then it just takes time to kneed it out.
as a very self reliant/dependant person, i really do endorse this product, i've spent hundreds on professional masseurs, and the only one that helped was the one that told me to buy theracane....after i asked him how to better massage myself. the nice thing too is that you can use this whenever the muscle tension acts up, without having to schedule a massage--- but then, this is not really a substitute for a masseur , it's a simple and better replacement for pain sufferers in my opinion. Still, it's not a pleasureful as a masseur since not only do you do all the work, but you also know that you're not getting much done until you find the spot that hurts, and start digging at it, so it's kind of painful. It's almost like popping zits, it hurts slightly, but the pain is very relieving, ....you gotta try it. when you get out your first knot, you'll be addicted to using it to get out your others....
i have both chronic lower back and upper neck pain, and very tense shoulders. for sufferers' of neck pain; you will learn that 95% of your neck pain in rooted in your upper back and shoulders; even if there is clicking and tightness in you neck...( i twist my whole head about the axis of my neck a few times a day to loudly crack it for relief, until i started using this--now it's only once a day and it's less necessary)

I have been a theracane user for 8 years now and was surprised to come across this on Amazon. I cannot say enough good things about this product. It's truly amazing to use when you have sore back and shoulder muscles. Although I don't use this daily, there are times when I get such severe neck and shoulder pain that I can't imagine being without this great tool. I would say the most useful way to use this is to apply pressure to certain points on your back, neck, and shoulders and you will find quick relief. Be sure to not be overzealous in use or you could end up very sore with more pain than you started with. I just ordered the instructional dvd Official Thera Cane Instructional DVD and hope to try more products by this company in the near future.
By the way, if you ever loan it out to a friend, you will never get it back, it's that good!
