when my back is hurting from working 12 hour shifts, i used to use the thermal patches. they take half an hour to heat up. this one is ready in 1 minute. it doesn't last as long as the patches but you just pop it in the micro for 30 seconds to re heat. thermal patches get tossed out when they cool and you have to buy more.Customer Review: Love love love love!

I love this product! It heats up in a little over a minute and then relief. I use it on my back and neck. I wish it had velcro on the straps but tying it isn't a big deal. It is a moist heat too. Don't know why since I don't put water on it, but it is. Great price too.Customer Review: Good idea

I like this - I can tie it to my waist, adjust it to where it hurts, and keep on going. This type cold pack doesn't seem to be as cold to me as real ice or the gel types, but it is good for its type. When I needed it colder, I held a gel pack on with it.Customer Review: Great!!

Cons: the heat only last about 20-30 minutes.

I wear it by itself, or over a Thermacare to give the Thermacare a "jump start". Even after the Themalon cools, it seems to serve as "insulation" so that more of the heat from the Thermacare is directed toward the back.
