Customer Review: Buy the Oxo

I did not buy this product through Amazon. I would have saved a bunch of money. But I went to the local Housewares store to get one because I lost my trusty Oxo GoodGrips stainless steel LiquiSeal last Friday. It fell out of the mesh on my backpack, and rolled under a truck in the middle of a rain storm, as I opened my car door in a parking lot.... If it had been a dry day, I would have crawled under the truck for it. But I had places to go that I needed to be clean and dry. Of course, if I had come to Amazon I would have just repurchased the Oxo and I wouldn't be writing this review...
This looked to be the best item in the Housewares store and I thought, "hmmmm, 'Thermos' - they used to be good...." Well, this one is not. I mean, it's not horrible but it has problems. One, it doesn't keep my coffee even near warm just in the hour and a half between when I fill it and when I reach for it at work. I've even tried preheating the insides (which the Oxo did not require.) The Oxo kept coffee hot that long. Also, because it is very light and thin, it does not fit well in to my beverage holder in my car. If I make a turn from a standing start, like from a red light, it stays put just fine. But if I make a turn at even a slow speed, it topples out of the holder. At that point, the handy push - to - open handle becomes a hazard because as the cup rolls the weight of the cup causes the handle to depress which opens the hole which lets the coffee run out onto the rug in my car.....
So now that I am here at Amazon I will be repurchasing the Oxo LiquiSeal. Which has it issues too - like the top is very difficult to clean. In fact, you can't really clean it. But it's heavy, stays put in my beverage holder, and keeps hot black coffee hot.

I bought this mug for my husband 17 years ago, and he has used it on a daily basis since then. We have at least a dozen other nice name brand mugs, but this is the only one he'll use. It keep his coffee pipin' hot all morning. The inside is stainless, which helps the insulation tremendously. Dishwasher safe and indestructible, you'll never need to use the 5 year warranty. Honestly, neither one of us has ever had a problem with the lid leaking, but I suppose if you tip it over, it would dribble a little (no rubber gasket on the flip-top thing). Who does that?? I would would trade every other one I have for 1 more of these!!Customer Review: Get one if you want your coffee hot for few hours...

Bought one about ten years ago, and although it does its job (insulating hot drinks for 2-3 hours at least), it took too much beating and needed to be replaced.
It does wonderful job of keeping my coffee hot in the morning, and it remains somewhat warm even after 4-5 hours...!

I have had one of the original Thermos Nissan tumblers, and have used it for years. The old one is finally wearing out, and I've been looking for a replacement. None of the other brands I found were as comfortable.
When I saw new ones for sale on Amazon, I was thrilled. I had thought that they weren't being made anymore. I'm very pleased to have a new one, and didn't throw the old one out. I put it away into "retirement," just in case I lose the new one.
