I am a physician and a mom and wanted an otoscope to keep with me at home that would do the job and not break the bank. I must say I think I have found it. I can see every bit as clear if not clearer with this little otoscope than I can with a very expensive one (I won't mention names)that I use at the office. Optics and light production are wonderful on this scope.Only thing I am unhappy about is the fact I later found the same otoscope on the companies website with a hard case for less money.Customer Review: Nice and bright, but small viewing opening

I found this a little difficult to use on my squirmy toddlers because the viewing lens is pretty small. I haven't tried the kind of otoscope with a big rectangular window, but I think that might be easier. Also, the instructions promised weren't really all that helpful. But I didn't return it because it has come in handy for other things, like viewing the inside of a small work area for craft projects, etc., and I hope as my twins get more compliant, I'll be able to use it more efficiently.Customer Review: Great product - Almost perfect

Was looking for an otoscope to use at home and came across this on amazon. It works great - bright, easy to use, light-weight yet durable. My only complaint, as some others have noted, is that the speculum tip is not screwed onto the otoscope like in professional models, so it has a slight tendency to come off as you're using it. But that only happens occasionally, and it's other qualities (including a great price point) far outweigh this one mild con. I bought this item because my 1 year old had chronic ear infections. It was easy to use and it cost 1/2 the price of an "ear monitor" and less than a trip to the doctor just to see if they have an infection or not. With this item you won't have to play the guessing game. It helped me identify and check up on my son's ear infections. My son ended up getting tubes and has not had an infection since. But, I can always check if I suspect there is one when he gets congestion.Customer Review: awesome product

I am a grandmother who takes care of her 3 grandchildren. I used to work in a school nurse's office and am accustomed to being able to visualize an eardrum when a child has discomfort.
This little item is absolutely wonderful!! It is also very well made and the next best thing to a professional otoscope. The light and magnification are great. And it is the only non-professional otoscope I found that comes with a tip small enough to use on a baby.
