The product itself works great. My husband and I both tried using it on each other before we even dared trying it on our 15 month old sons ears. It turns out if your little one really doesn't want you looking in his ears - it will be difficult to do without a lot of experience to get that quick look you need to see if it is an infection. Kind of thought this was going to be cheesy but it really is the best thing since....well you get the idea. Light is brite, you can see super well. Our son has had several ear infections and this item has saved us from trips to the doc. Knowing that he does not have an ear infection and is just being fussy because of teething is a load off. I got this to check my daughter's ears when she had a minor infection. It works fine and the LED light is nice - I always have or can find batteries and don't have to worry about burned out bulbs. I have used it very little since my daughter has had no more ear trouble but we do check for excess wax on occasion and she loves using it to look in our ears. My 11 month old has had several ear infections and that is why I purchased this. I have hardly been able to get a look though, even when he's asleep it stirs him. His ear holes are tiny and he has a lot of wax. That is to be expected though, we can hold him down to get a look if we have to. I feel like I have to look longer to see than the docs. This otoscope is very helpful for us. We can use it to help detect ear infections instead of taking our 1 yr old to the doctor and paying an expensive copay every time she pulls on her ear/has a runny nose. Usually it's just teething! The reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 is that I can't seem to use it quite right. My husband can, though, so we are happy with it.
