Customer Review: Impressive otoscope for the price

I was almost shocked at how well I could see my wifes eardrum with this nifty little tool. I could even see the little boney thing laying on the inside of the eardrum that I remeber studying in Biology 10 years ago in college. The light was exceptionally bright, actually it was an almost blinding light when I took off the cone and looked directly into it. It is also nice to know the bulb will last forever. My sister bought an ear scope from Walgreens to use to check her childrens ears and it went out after about 2 months and she could not find anywhere to buy a new bulb. She had to just dispose of it. She is the one that found this model and told me about it. I am very happy with my purchase.
I also want to add that I could not see my daughters eardrum as clearly as my wifes but it was more of a problem with the fact her ear canals seemed fairly small and she seemed have have alot more earwax blocking my view.

This is a really nice otoscope for a very nice price. This is the second one I have purchased. I am giving this as a gift to a sister. I am a Family Practice Physician and a Mom to a 4 year old who suffers chronic allergies and ear problems. I have 3 professional model otoscopes that I use at my office, my problem was that they were always at the office when I needed them at home. I found this model on Amazon and have been very happy with my purchase. The light is very bright, actually as bright if not brighter than my professional model otoscopes. The lens is also very good. I can see the eardrum just as clear as I can with any other otoscope I have ever used in my career. Considering the $25 price this otosocpe is very tough to beat for an inexpensive model that is light weight, easy to handle and store, and functions nearly as well as any other otoscope I have used to date.

Looks and "feels" and works just like a professional otoscope at a fraction of the cost. I literally use it almost every night.
Two of my children inherited "hard" earwax and all the problems that come with it and even though we have great insurance, it costs a small fortune to have our doctor clean it out. I also hate paying for an office visit only to find out it wasn't necessary. So this little gem saves me time and money every day.
It comes in a very sturdy case, it shines VERY brightly, and it comes with 4 actual images of: 1)an eardrum with a "tube" in it 2)a normal healthy eardrum 3)an infected eardrum and 4)a perforated eardrum. I cut the photos out and glued them inside the case lid so I don't lose them.
I couldn't be happier with my purchase and HIGHLY recommend it to anyone who deals with ear infections or ear wax build up. It's a great investment.

I bought this item because our daughter had an ear canal blocked with a wax plug. After a visit to the doctor's office, we were sent home with oil drops to try to break up the plug. Without an otoscope, there was no way to determine if the oil drops were working. I ordered the Dr. Mom Otoscope from Amazon on Friday evening and it arrived on MONDAY with regular shipping! We were able to see in our daughter's ear so clearly. The wax plug eventually loosened and came out, but without this otoscope, we would have been clueless as to whether or not the oil drops were doing their job. Without the otoscope, we would have had to return to the doctor's office for follow up visits. With the Dr. Mom Otoscope, we didn't have to return for another visit (and co-pay) while still having the confidence that her ear was clear and healed. I would recommend this product 100% to anyone considering a purchase.

This is a great tool! I baselined my son to know what his ears will look like when he is healthy. Practiced on other members in the household as well since a 2 year old won't sit still for long.
A couple days ago, he had what appeared to be a blood clot come out of his ear when bathing, and there was a little bit of fresh blood. I looked in his ear and found nothing. The next day, he was pulling and prodding at the same ear. Broke out the scope again, and saw something black, that looked like a leg from a bug. Mind you, I just pulled a deer tick out of my leg a week before since my neighbors never cut their grass. Off to the doctor for an emergency visit. Doctor of course saw it as well, and determined it wasn't a bug leg, but a hair, not his. So they ended up flushing his ear, and what was likely an eyelash came out and was probably tickling his ear drum.
