We decided to buy this so we could have a better idea of when we should take ourselves or our child to the doctor's office for care of an ear infection. I did some research and, not wanting to spend a lot of money, decided on this unit. Here are my initial thoughts:
PROS: lightweight, small, easily stored, LED light works GREAT and is VERY bright, takes AAA batteries (what parent in America doesn't stock those?), comes with very good instructions and it's very nicely priced and you can buy additional specula for a very cheap price.
CONS: No available case, the display is a little small.
As a mother, I'm very glad I purchased this item and I highly recommend it.
My husband wants to buy a couple more because of the great price and how well they work... he does intricate electronic work at both his job and for his hobby.

The Dr. Mom Otoscope is THE best!! Great to have, great for a baby gift, & THE only otoscope out there we have found that you can really see what you need to! So easy to use anyone can see the eardrum and look at the pictures they provide to tell if you really need to go to the doctor or not! Our youngest had chronic ear troubles and allergies and finally needed tubes but we knew when we needed to go to the doctor for an infection and when it was just fluid draining from his sinuses thanks to the Dr. Mom otoscope!!
We have 4 boys & HIGHLY recommend every parent have one on hand! Our first grandson is coming in Aug & we purchased one as a baby shower gift!!
Great company to deal with too!! When the light bulb quit, after a few years of use, they were wonderful in getting us a new one cheap & quick!!
I never want to be without at least one ;)!!

My son has ear infections all of the time. We live in a rural area without many doctors. So getting in to see one is hard. Before the otoscope we were going to the Doctor's office every month. My son has had two sets of tubes. I ordered a otoscope from you and it was amazing. I didn't have to take him in every time he was pulling at his ear. It has saved me hundreds of dollars in doctor's appoinments. When he does have an ear infection I take him and the doctor is always impressed that I knew. Infact I have gotten to the point that if he developes an ear infection after hours I can call the doctor and the medication is ready to pick up without an appointment (We do follow up shortly after the next day or so). I would recommend this product to any parent that has kids that are prone to ear infections. I never wonder now I know.Customer Review: Simply Awesome........

Where has this ear looking device been while my two older children were going through the ear infection stages of their life. All three of my boys suffer from allergies and all three have been prone to frequent ear infections. Luckily the two older boys out grew the frequent infections. Now it's my youngest ones turn and this earscope has been a Godsend. I have already diagnosed an infection in the earliest stage that was just confirmed by our pediatrician. The view of the eardrum is amazingly clear. I have had no medical training and I was immediately able to see the beginning of trouble on his left ear drum especially when I compared it to the right side. A friend had purchased one of these several months ago and had told me about it and how well it worked for her. I have to agree and am very satisfied with my purchase.

Fantastic earscope especially for the price. I am so happy with my purchase. I can see my childs eardrum so clearly with this marvelous little tool. Why did I not know about these before now. I just stumbled across this when I was searching for a book about ear infections. I did not know they were even available to the general public. I thought the only way I could check on the ears of my daughter was to take her into the pediatrician and pay my $35 co-pay.
It is so easy to look in her ear and check her eardrum for redness. What you see is what you get. The earscope also includes directions to a webpage that is full of color eardrum pictures and detailed instructions on how to use the scope.
I am so happy with my purchase. You will not go wrong with this nifty little device.
