I'm very surprised at some of the reviews...however, I do not use this bottle to keep warm so I WOULD NEVER put boiling water in it..I can't imagine anyone taking such a great risk of severe burns.
I use this product theraputically for abdominal bloating and/or pain. As others have stated, I like the two different sides of the bottle applying the "rough" less hot side in the beginning right over a polo shirt then as it cools use the "smooth" warmer side as it is too hot in the first hour or two but perfect for the next hour or two. I use hot tap water probably about 110 degrees and it is a fantastic addition to my household medical kit as well as take along on vacations.
Recommended strongly for patients with IBS (Irritable Bowel Syndrome".
Made in Germany and not inexpensive but for me well worth the cost as the craftsmanship is better than the rubber types made elsewhere and with thusly last longer.
VERY HAPPY with this product although a bit pricy but will buy another two for backup!

I bought this when I had the flu and I was desperate for extra warmth. The minute it came into the house, my 2 year old daughter decided it was hers and that was that. She calls it "Babby" and she takes it with her everywhere - bed, in the car, anywhere in the house, outside to play in the yard, you name it, Babby's gotta be there. It's so funny that with all her other toys, this hot water bottle (with the brown fleece cover) is by far her favorite. Anyway, the review. As far as I can tell it's fantastic. It doesn't leak, even with a hefty two year old lying on it all the time, tossing it around, stepping on it, etc, and it really holds the heat well. We fill it with the hottest water our tap provides and by morning it's still warm. With two or three fill-ups a day for several months now (Babby has to be warm, of course) it's held up really well. If my daughter is still totally attached to this thing come next fall, I'll be ordering another one for myself to keep me extra warm in the winter!Customer Review: Great water bottle

I bought this water bottle as a late Christmas present for my husband and we are very happy with it. I read most of the reviews on it and wondered to myself if I was crazy (and if my husband would think I was crazy) for spending over 20 bucks on a hot water bottle. Once it arrived, within ten minutes of arrival actually, we had it filled with kettle hot water. It held the heat for over four hours. My husband was very happy with it. We seem to use it every few days (we've had it for about a month now) and so far no leaks and I feel confident that it won't...and hopefully it will never leak or my husband will suffer dearly. heh. heh.
Anyhow, this is a quality product that has held up so far. Holds heat well. Wonderful at the foot of the bed. Feels well made. Sturdy. Every home should have a hot water bottle. This is a good one to have. I do not regret spending the 20 or so bucks for it neither does my husband.
p.s. This water bottle has NO plasticky or rubbery smell.

I've owned a lot of hot water bottles and I abuse them by putting boiling water in them. I sleep with one every night for extra warmth. They usually last about a year before the seam splits. This bottle doesn't appear to have the same seam system if any seams at all. It is made of a very thick silicone which holds the heat very well. With a towel cover over it, it stays solidly warm for eight hours. The textured surface on one side is quite a high texture which does a good job of preventing it from getting too hot to touch. The neck is wide and easy to pour water into without it spitting back at you. I'm in love with this bottle and I expect that it will last longer than the usual year. Seller was great. The bottle came on time and in great condition. They even threw in a free bar of soap!
August 2009-Nearly two years later and the bottle is still holding up strong!
January 2011-Still in perfect condition!

After reading a ton of reviews a couple of years ago, I decided to buy this water bottle. I am so glad I did. I use it almost every night in winter because my feet get so cold. I just fill it with hot tap water and wrap in a pillow case and throw it under the covers at the foot of the bed and it stays warm all night. I love how well made this one is. It has NEVER leaked even a drip. I like that it is transparent so I can see how full I am getting it. I only fill it half full and squeeze the extra air out so it lays flat. When I got it it had a slight smell of powder. It still does. You don't notice it unless you have it near your face, but I appreciate that it smells nice and hasn't picked up any off smells in 2 years of use. I am back on Amazon looking at these again because my kids try to steal this from me on cold winter nights. I need another one, or even 2, to keep the wolves (or do I mean kids) at bay.
