Customer Reviews of Tuli's Heavy Duty Heel Cups, Large (Over 175lbs)Customer Review: Some Relief with the heel cups Summary: 4 Stars
I've had on off again problems with heel pain for a few years. It's been constant over the last 6 months and have tried a number of things. After the x-ray which showed nothing, I started physical therapy for several months. Part of that included the topical steroid patch. That helped a bit, but nothing like a cure. I added a night foot splint (Body Armor) the equation. That helped a bit, but again no real 'cure'. These heel cups were the latest addition to the treatment plan.
Overall,I'd have to say that these were the most cost effective of the things which have helped. I do feel less pain the next morning if I wore these the day before. I'm not pain free, but these have helped.
I'm come to the conclusion that this type of foot pain is caused by many different things and each person will find a different solution to the problem.
I'm quite a few months and quite a few hundred dollars into trying to solve this problem. The $10 spent on these were definitely worth it.
As some of the other reviews, they are quite large. I have size 12.5 feet, so they're fine for me, but I would see them being too large on a size 11 or so foot, depending on your heel width. You can wear them inside your sock which is helpful if the side or your shoe is low cut. If your socks are tight enough, you can even use these without shoes. I don't like wearing shoes in the house, so this does work.
I'll use these for a while and see if the pain continues to go away. If not, next stop is the custom orthotics at a big price. So, I'm hoping these, with the night splint, and stretching will do the trick.
Customer Review: Helped a ton....thought it was plantar when its just bad heel fat pad Summary: 5 Stars
Im 6'1" and right at 200 pounds....I am very active in that I play basketball at least 3 times a week competitively. Had recurring, almost annual(sometimes bi-annual) cortisone shots in my heel for foot/heel pain, mostly to one foot. Have a new Dr. this(different insurance) year that told me it wasnt plantar and that he wouldn't give me an injection which basically allowed me to walk at night and in the mornings. He said it was my fat pad and not my tendons. I have since bought two pairs and only really have a problem with one foot...so I put a pad in my slippers, bball shoes, regular walking shoes and snow shoes and it took about a month, but my foot is 90% better. I have orthotics and I think I have found the cure for my severe heel pain. Thank goodness for a Dr. that knew what he was talking about too. My other Dr.'s just gave me the shots....which helped, but may have actually worsened the condition in the long run. In any case I truly highly recommend these....what a surprise. Best 8 bucks I have spent.
Customer Review: Does the job Summary: 4 Stars
I bought these heel cups when I kicked up my walking distance from 18 miles to about 32 miles a week. I started to notice some heel pain (Plantar fascitis) and knew I had to do something quickly. I purchased a set of Tuli's heavy duty heel cups and a set of hard plastic heel cups. These hard heel cups work by molding the heel is such a way to put fat or cushion in the heel. The tuli cups work by providing the cushion in the cup itself. Both sets of cups worked great. No problem with fit (Size 11 1/2) with either. The hard cups are a little easier to work with. The tuli cups require you to pay more attention when you put your shoes on since it is easy to fold over a side of the cup into the shoe. If you pay attention you'll be fine with them, too.
Customer Review: These Things Really Work Summary: 5 Stars
I bought these as a last resort -- the next step was probably going to have be surgery, my heel pain was that severe. At first it didn't seem like these cups were doing anything to alleviate my pain. But I kept on wearing them day after day, month after month and a funny thing happened -- my pain began to subside. In fact, now I barely have any pain at all. These things work, or at least they worked for me. And after wearing them for a few months, I can't even feel them in my shoes any more ... not that they were uncomfortable at the start, but they've become less and less noticeable the more I wear them. Give these a try before you go do the surgery gig...at less than $20 it's a pretty safe investment.
Customer Review: Helped fix the problem Summary: 5 Stars
My husband is on his feet 10-12 hours per day, six days per week, and he was experiencing pain in his feet to the point of being almost unable to walk, particularly in the mornings. His doctor said he suspected plantar fasciitis. I'm a runner, and I know that there are numerous readily available treatments for plantar, so I decided to try a few (including these heel cups) before we invested in expensive, medically-prescribed orthotics.
These heel cups and a pair of arch bandages appear to have solved the problem. My husband never complains about foot pain anymore. He's so pleased that he asked me to get a pair for his son. May not work for everyone but it definitely worked for him.
