Customer Reviews of Tweezerman Men's Shaving BrushCustomer Review: does a great job, well made and good value Summary: 5 Stars
I'd still be using this only a maid in a hotel evidently decided her husband or her legs would be better off using it than I would. Good thing the brush was inexpensive.
That said, it's not "cheap" but very good value. The bristles may or may not be badger but they work well and are well adhered to the handle. It whips up a good head of soap and doesn't get too bogged down or stiff with soap residue nor does it shed much after a day or so. The handle itself fits well in your hand and has decent weight.
Given the rather ridiculous price of many other brushes, this one is great. If you're not out to make a fashion statement to your mirror or your spouse I'd say it's the one to get.
Customer Review: Worked fine for me! Summary: 4 Stars
I give this one 4 stars just because I have never used any other badger brushes so I can't compare it to them.
However, this one is nice and soft feeling and worked up a mean lather from my Col. Conk's shaving soap in no time. The key is to use plenty of water, and mix until the lather is smooth and glossy.
The wooden handle might deteriorate after a while, but this is definitely a good starter brush for anyone who wants to try wet shaving without breaking the bank on a $100+ silver tipped badger brush :-)
I used it with a Merkur Classic DE razor and the two worked really well together to give me a great shave. I look forward to tomorrow when I get to do it again!
Customer Review: Good Brush at Great Price Summary: 4 Stars
This brush has worked well and lost a few hairs every use for all of its 6 uses. It's worked up great lather. Great starter/travel brush to see if this is right for you. The price for what you get is excellent. It does have a wooden handle and I'll see how this holds up over time since it will be soaked. But so far so good! From what I've seen the next step up is about $40 a brush.
I purchased this with the Colonel Conk Evernice Model 775 Chrome Safety Razor Stand and it fit snugly. The brush is 1" wide at the thinnest part at the top of the handle which is exactly what the stand measured.
Customer Review: Wears better than other, more expensive brushes Summary: 4 Stars
We've gone through some different shaving brushes in our home. You'd think, or at least hope, that the more expensive ones would work, wear or feel better than the more reasonably priced models (such as this Tweezerman one), but then you'd inevitably be disappointed.
Tweezerman just makes good stuff. Even the finish on this brush's handle wears better than the more expensive ones'. It gets a rinse & couple of shakes after each use to free the water & soap; that's all it needs. You can't go wrong!
P.S. If you want to understand why someone would use a brush instead of just their hand, it's because the badger bristles exfoliate the skin and prick up the beard (whiskers) better.
Customer Review: Excellent brush Summary: 4 Stars
A lot of reviews will patronizingly call this a "good starter brush", or "good for the price". It is that, but I've found it to be a good brush, period. I almost always face lather rather than bowl lather. The Tweezerman felt a little scratchy at first, and lost some hairs. After a breaking in period, however, it feels great on my face, and the hair loss has stopped. Lathers great with both soaps and creams. This is still my go to brush, although I do use some others in rotation.
Yes you may get a better brush for more money, but be sure you have a clear idea of how, exactly, you expect it to be better. If you just want to get the job done, you don't need to spend more than this.
