This light really works. I have Seasonal Affective Disorder. My psychiatrist suggested I get a therapy light rather than take meds. I did a lot of research before I purchased this one. It is a little costly, but it is worth it. The first time I turned it on, I felt relief. I follow the instructions, sitting within twelve inches of it for a half hour each day. But some times I leave it on longer and use it as a regular light. Just having it on helps me. I don't even have to sit in front on it all the time. I don't know how I managed without it. I'm addicted.
Some reviewers have mentioned that the light has an odor. Yes, it does, but the smell goes away with time. I think it's more of that "new" smell burning off than anything. It's not that bothersome to me.

Northeast Ohio = no sun for most of the time between late fall and early spring. I knew I had to do SOMETHING to deal with that "winter funk" that would take over when the abundant clouds settled in. After doing some research I settled on the Uplift Technologies DL930 Day-Light. This thing WORKS. I use it everyday for 20-30 minutes at about the same time in the morning when I'm eating breakfast (after my workout). No more depression or lethargy day after day! I noticed a difference by the fourth day. It's light-weight and easy to move. As mentioned in other reviews - it is delivered as a box in a box. The outside box looked like they played a game of rugby with it during transit. The inside box is packed well and nothing was broken.Customer Review: A worthwhile purchase

A family member suffers from depression which becomes considerably worse during the dark days of winter. I took a chance on this light (and by the way there was no odor as some others had mentioned). Our family member sits in front of the light every morning, either while eating breakfast or reading the paper and I can see a tremendous difference in his ability to accomplish small and larger tasks. Some days, I think the Energizer bunny is living here. I am so sorry we didn't know about this product many years earlier. If it breaks, I'd replace it the same day as it truly has been so helpful.
I would recommend this to anyone who has the winter blahs or who suffers from depression or similar disorders. Money well spent!!!

Within 3 days of starting my light therapy, I was back to walking...even in 30 degree temps and snow. My mood is extremely happier and more positive, I have started painting and sewing again. I would recommend it to anyone suffering from SAD. I had purchased a small one @ a hardware store, that basicly would work as mood lighting for a room, but did not have the watts that this one does. The light was easy to assemble, no odors as some suggested and works great as a task lamp for painting as well. It's easy to relocate for other tasks. I think it is high quality, was packed very well and received my order from Amazon over night without the overnight shipping fees. I have sent emails to all my friends about the Day Light SAD light!Customer Review: Worth the money

With this terrible winter in the Northeast, my mood has taken a dive. I've lived in the NE for many years, but this winter was taking a toll. With fibromyalgia as well, my antidepressent didn't seem to be doing the job, so I sought a light therapy lamp for extra help. I did a lot of research, read a lot of reviews, and I'm so glad that I picked the Uplift Technologies DL930. After one week I can honestly say that I'm feeling happier and I'm even sleeping better. Friends and family can tell the difference from a few weeks ago, and I'm feeling like I can handle the months ahead. I spend 20-30 minutes in the morning sitting before it as I put on my makeup. There is a bit of a plastic smell after 15 minutes or so, but it's negligible.
