I bought this item during the darkest of winter months--January. I am a complete sceptic when it comes to miracle cures; however, on that note, I was amazed by the fact that after suffering from a chronic nagging headache for 3+ weeks, I was cured within 2 days of using the light!!!! No kidding! Not to mention, I almost felt a little "high" from use after a week! Now, I use this light almost every day for 1/2 hour and am 2 1/2 months into the purchase. I have recommended this to all my friends and family. Living in the Upper Midwest, we are so deprived of light during the winter months and this is my new recommended treatment to anyone who suffers a little bit of Seasonal Affective Disorder. It is a true concern and this light has been an amazing treatment for it! Much better than taking the mind-altering meds that are often prescribed by physicians! I have been dithering about whether to buy one of these lights for seasonal depression for about 10 years. I finally took the plunge and I am so glad that I did!
This unit is expensive, but it is worth it, especially if you can get free Super Saver shipping.
When the day is especially grey/cloudy, or I am tired/hungover, I wake up with my alarm clock, turn on the Happy Light in my bedroom, and crawl back into bed. Within 15-20 minutes, I am awake naturally.
Have you ever gone camping and found yourself unable to sleep once the sun came up? That is what the Happy Light does for me, except I get to be in control of the light.
The Happy Light has saved me from wanting to hit the snooze button three times, from needing excessive amounts of coffee, and from being late to work. I cannot thank the manufacturer and Amazon enough.

I just got my happy light a couple days ago. I guess it is sorta a given (because the light bulbs are florescent), but I thought everyone should know that sitting in front of a happy light is nothing like real daylight. The experience is very artificial. I'm sitting in front of it now-it kinda feels like a trip to Kmart.
However, the light is also not as bright as I thought it would be. This could be a good thing because I can still sit at my desk and get work done while using the Happy Light. So far I would have to say that it is better than sitting at a desk with "regular" light. I do feel more awake. I'm going to keep an open mind and use the thing every day and then write back later. OOOO if you do decide to get one, check the verilux site first; they are having a special and it is cheaper than on amazon.

Was slightly skeptical at first of the effects that this light would actually have on me, but am super pleasantly surprised. I have been using the light daily each morning for the recommended 30 minutes for only a week, and see such a difference! I am by no means a morning person, but this light seems to have given me a pick me up each morning. My mood has changed, my thoughts have been happier, I'm feeling more motivated, it has definitely rid me of the winter blues! And to top it all off the light itself is a wonderful tool. I have been using it to read or sew by and it gives off great bright light so I can do those tasks without straining my eyes. The light has a nice shape and style to it, doesn't give off excess heat or weird smells. I reviewed many "Happy Lights" and found this product the best for my needs. It is one of few I found while googling that emit up to 10,000 LUX which is recommended by psychiatrists to obtain full benefits of the light.
I've used this product for one week and already feel it working. I attend college on-line, and am in my room most of the day doing homework. I was having difficulties concentrating and lacked ambition. Verilux's HappyLight Deluxe is changing this. Even when I am chatting with my friends over instant messenger they sense the elevation in my mood!
My next purchase will be a smaller, portable Verilux so I can reap it benefits while I am in other areas of the house that don't get enough sunlight.
