Customer Review: Don't buy this if you suffer from extremely dry skin or excema

This humidifier does a fairly good job of preventing dry throat but it does a poor job of preventing dry skin or in preventing excema from a very dry and warm room. It's very quiet on the low fan setting, I can't hear it when I'm sleeping, but it is very loud on the high setting. You can only use the high setting when you're not in the room. Overall it's a fairly good product considering the price. I love the fact that it comes with a 5 year warranty. However, I will be purchasing a more expensive model that emits a warm mist, probably air-o-swiss. I needed and still need a humidifier that will prevent dry skin and excema. I have spent so much money on 4 previous humidifiers and I'm glad to say the search is finally over. It is quiet on both speeds, some people say the high speed is noisy,but it is a nice white noise as opposed to some i have used that sound like a tank charging through the room. not only does it look really nice and sleek, but i cleans the air it puts out and doesn't spray water all over the place. it's a great product i just wish i had bought one sooner. This humidifier broke within a couple of weeks. It makes a clicking sound I can't make go away, and it goes through water very quickly. I found out today that it goes through water so quickly because it was leaking on my dresser and has now ruined it.
I bought a Crane humidifier for my son, and that works great--quiet, no leaks, etc. This one is terrible, and I have to suck up the $30 I paid. It's going in the trash now.

My wife bought this item, filled it to the top, then asked me to carry it upstairs. Let me tell you, do not do this. The way it works is that the top clear water container drains via a dip tube into a tray, which sits at the bottom. Move the item, and thus the tray, and the water will slosh out, which will allow more water to flow from the reservoir. I didn't know this was the problem until I kept trying to position it to keep from spilling, which was funny as I kept making the problem worse. Once I discovered how the item works, its easy to see that it just cannot be carried. It prob can be moved without a problem, say a foot here or there on the floor, but I wouldnt carry it. If you make wedding cakes and deliver them yourself, then you should have no problems, as you are used to the balancing act.

I have been using the Vicks V3100 for almost two months and I must say I am pretty satisfied. The machine runs quiet at low speed and a little bit noisier at high speed. The best part is that the 1 gallon of water at either speeds last over 10 hours and it has substantially help my breathing especially at night. The filter cleans hair well but if you live in a dusty city, like I do, it does not last much and the replacement is pricey.
Overall it is a great buy!!
