Customer Reviews of Vicks Nursery 1 Gallon Vaporizer with Night-Light

Customer Review: What is going on?
Summary: 1 Stars

I'm not sure what is going on. This is the second Vick's steamer I bought this weekend. Neither one of them seemed to work. The first one's light came on when I plugged it in but the water stayed cold and it never did anything. So I took that one back. The second one, which I have now, is plugged in and the water in it has warmed up after being plugged in for over 12 hours, but it also is not doing anything. I don't know what is going on...Aren't these vaporizers supposed to create steam?
The water level has not changed. I have even tried adding salt.
Can anyone tell me why 2 of these have not worked for me?

Customer Review: Waste of Money!
Summary: 1 Stars

I bought this and it worked fine the first time that I used it. Granted, it was late summer and the house was pretty warm so it was not to difficult to steam up the bedroom. However, I have tried it in my infant's room 4 times this winter. I used HOT water & salt to try to help it, but the darn thing does not have enough power to make the steam. Maybe all of the "steam" energy is being used on the night light! If you have your home's thermostat set under 78 degrees, do not waste your money on this item! Find something stronger to get you through the winter months!

Customer Review: practical vaporizer
Summary: 4 Stars

This Vicks Nursery Vaporizer is easy to use, and it is safe because it is automatically shut down the heat when there is not enough water. But you have to add a little salt to generate vapor, and you need to control the amount of salt because if you add too much, it will vaperize too quickly and the boiled water will generate noise. The inside black heater often makes the water quite dirty. But as long as you can get along with it and clean it once a week as manufactory suggestion, it is a good vaporizer.

Customer Review: Starting making lots of noise after a month
Summary: 3 Stars

At first it seemed to do a great job - strong steam, not too much noise. I use it at night to moisturize the air while I'm sleeping. After several uses, would always be little black particles left behind in the tank. But after regularly cleaning the unit, the black particles go away and the steam output improves to be close to its original level performance. Overall for the price this is a good option. I've only had it for four months and I'm not sure how long it would stand up in the long run.

Customer Review: Basic Vaporizer at a good price
Summary: 4 Stars

Works fine though with small capacity; runs for 8-9 hours. Compact for easy storage and a good value (I paid $11.96) for a basic vaporizer. When you first insert the heating element it tends to float up but then settles into place as the water seeps in. (It lacks a lock or screw tight mechanism.) We have used this overnight in our bedroom when fighting a cold. You may need to add baking soda to make it work faster depending on the level of minerals in your water.
