Customer Reviews of Vicks Personal Steam Inhaler

Customer Review: Great for Colds, Flu, and administering Vitamin B-12
Summary: 5 Stars

The product was way beyond my expatiations, and it works very well, plenty of steam, and the steam adjust slide worked great.

I was taking nasal B-12, for stuffed up nose, and a slight cold, but wasn't working that well. So I put a half of a dropper of Ener-B in the water,in the inhaler,
[...]

I couldn't believe the results, first off it cleared up my nose, and stopped the cold. I was over fatigued and depressed, well it really woke me up, and made me alive.

What B-12 does, is create more oxygen in the blood, which can make your mind move faster. Nasal B-12 can also Destroy the Flu & Cold Viruses [...].

I think this is a Great product, and is well made and designed. It has make me feel great, and the Price is Right!

Customer Review: A Must Have for Singers and Speakers
Summary: 5 Stars

This great little device is an essential for singers and speakers, especially those who suffer allergies. (Allergy sufferers who aren't singers or speakers would benefit too.) Steam is the number 1 treatment prescribed by my otolaryngologist when experiencing allergy, cold, or other respiratory/vocal symptoms. My personal steamer travels easily with me, tucked into the corner of a carry-on size suitcase. When you're on the road presenting or performing, it can be a life saver. Much better than a towel over your head and a pan of boiling water too (and safer). I recommend personal steamers to all my voice students. It's true, as another reviewer wrote, that you can buy this less expensively at your local WalMart or Target store, but even at this price, it's a winner.

Customer Review: Careful not to spill if you DO hold it by hand.
Summary: 3 Stars

Yes, yes, the instructions do say to keep on a flat solid surface. Yea, right..! If you're feeling like crud, you're going to want to stick your face in this while lying back on the sofa or something. And you can do it. It works. But you need to be careful. The water you will spill on you if you tilt it is hot. Not scalding, but hot enough to make you jump.

So other than that, the steam is really good. I like that I can use it without the medicated pad. I tried it, and that WAS nice, but more something I'd consider if I was sick with a cold and not just allergies. I imagine as the winter goes on that this will become a major item at my home and we'll need ot invest in a second one.

Customer Review: Not that great!
Summary: 2 Stars

I found that there wasn't enough steam produced to be effective! I have bad sinus allergies and my doctor recommended I inhale steam either in a steam room or through a device to help cleanse my sinus cavities.
When I saw this on Amazon I thought it would be perfect; small, light weight and I could really isolate the steam to my nasal area.

Well it doesn't produce enough steam for anything!! I don't know how any of the people who have reviewed the product were able to loosen congestion. It was a complete lack of money and now it is just stored under a cabinet somewhere.

If you are looking for a product that produces a lot of steam, then SKIP THIS ONE!!!

Customer Review: It works great. I hope it lasts.
Summary: 4 Stars

I just received my personal steam inhaler yesterday. I've used it twice. It works as advertised and I really enjoy breathing in the hot steam. It is the same sensation as breathing in a sauna, steam room, or sweat lodge. It does a great job of clearing out my sinuses and is very relaxing. In the manual, they tell you to wipe it down after each use - which is OK but you have to wait for it to cool down first (minor inconvenience). It is a very simple machine but it seems to work well. It's a little bit awkward to store, though it's not very big. I just cleaned mine off each time and put it back in the box it came in. All in all I think it's pretty cool so far.
