Customer Review: An alternate for Visine LR

You people are correct. Visine seems to have stopped manufacturing their LR product. The active ingredient that makes LR work so well is oxymetazoline. I don't know why, but no other manufacturer has eye drops with this active ingredient. But here's the deal, you don't have to pay through the nose to buy overpriced Visine LR from these people who have somehow stocked it and are now reaping the benefits by charging exorbitant prices. You can also get oxymetazoline off the shelf from various nasal sprays. The one I use is Afrin, but there are many others out there too. The main difference that I've found is that the nasal sprays (they call them nasal sprays, but they are really still in a plastic bottle that acts the same as an eye dropper) are twice as strong dosage-wise as the Visine LR (0.05% versus 0.025%). I'm not sure if that matters much, but I compensate by just using half as much. The nasal drops are sterile like the eye drops. Anyway, hope that this information helps out some people from overspending.
