I wish I would have read the other reviews of this product before I purchased it at Walgreens. After reading the reviews I decided to see for myself how loud the trimmer is and how poor of performance it has; let me tell you that everything every negative reviewer has said here is true.
This trimmer is LOUD.
This trimmer sucks at trimming hair. I have a buzz cut so it's not as though it is that difficult to get through. However, I had to stop trimming my hair several times because the blade kept getting stuck in the guard just from barely pushing the trimmer through.
I'm now looking at some Oster trimmers. My last Wahl trimmer was wonderful but I couldn't find it again in the store.

The comments about them being extremely loud are true. I often have to pinch the sides of the clippers (not sure why) to get them back to normal operation. Again, I don't know what causes it or why that helps, but it does. When not in "high gear," though, the clippers work just fine. The color coding is nice, but some of the colors do not really match the color code on the clippers. The general color is there, but most are darker or lighter or a slightly different hue than the color code. That was frustrating at first, but now I've pretty much memorized which colors I use where and do not pay attention to the color code anymore.Customer Review: Amazing Purchase

By far one of the best purchases I ever made. A HUGE money saver. The variety of lengths and shapes of attachments allows you to cut your hair in just about any fashion, with ease, and quickly. It runs very smoothly, is not too loud, and is pretty ergonomic to fit your hand. The only complaint I could come up with is that sometimes the teeth of the attachments can get slightly malaligned while on the clippers, but even the manual will warn you of this and all you do is flick it with your finger and it snaps back into place. I've been cutting my own hair for about 6 years now, and my original Wahl's needed to be replaced after taking a few quick trips down to the tile floor. This newer clipper has a much sturdier body, and does a great job. The adapters are simple and work well, and the color coding is great. On my old set, I had a few hair cuts that were closer than intended after picking up the wrong clipper guard.
I suspect that clippers should be replaced every 5 years or so (based on my usage), and at $30 the price is right. I definitely recommend these to anyone looking to get into hair cutting.

I've been doing my boys' hair since their very first haircut. One is now 5 and the other is 3. I've taken them in one time to get it professionally done. They did the exact same thing I would have done at home, and having 2 boys done cost more than buying one of these trimmers. My husband also uses this to cut his hair. I cannot even imagine how much money we've saved having this. The only reason I did not give 5 stars is because it is a bit loud, but my kids' biggest complaint is the itchy hair that falls around them. They're going to get that if someone else cuts it too though.
