This kit was purchased to replace a previous Wahl kit that had been used for over seven years. The wife had used our old unit to cut my son's and my hair since 1999, on the average of every six weeks. At a cost per haircut today of anywhere from $8 to $10 (that is about as inexpensive as you can get one), you can do the math as to how much money this original $22.00 +/- kit saved us. Rather than spend money to replace broken pieces, we decided to go with an all-new kit. This new one has performed in outstanding fashion, and it has more accessories than our old one. The main clipper has that solid, substantial feel of a quality piece of goods. The wife has become quite proficient in seven years of cutting her mens' hair. I also use it to trim my beard, and once again, it performs flawlessly. This unit defines quality and value, and even more, it makes me proud that it is MADE IN THE U.S.A. Wahl could get cute with their designs, but why? The classics never go out of fashion. You will not be disappointed with this product, and it will save you literally hundreds of dollars over its life cycle.Customer Review: THE BEST!

I have owned these Wahl hair cutters since April 2004. They were $22 back then. They're still a great buy.
I have saved so much money on hair cuts in the past 1-1/2 years that I could throw these away and still be ahead. (no pun intened) I won't throw them away of course.
Not much to add to the other fine reviews. The Wahl works great; they're as quiet as the barber's trimmers. Cuts as smoothly....
They are made in USA; clearly marked as such. Strange, one comb is made in USA the other in China. The oil container in my kit was made in China... But the hardware is made in USA and great quality. My cutters are as sharp now as they were 1-1/2 years ago. I oil them with each use. The attatchements are plastic clip-ons but work as intended. I have not broken one yet with my big paws; I was sure I would have by now. Ha ha....
You can't go wrong with these hair trimmer/cutters. You don't really need all those plastic attatchments but the ones to cut around the ears make it easier to trim that area.
So, buy a set and start saving money!

This set of clippers is great. First of all let me say that I am a black man who cuts his hair every two weeks and keeps it very short.
My wife and I team up to cut my hair and it comes out fine. The clippers look very attractive and feel very sturdy in my hands. However, they are a little on the heavy side for my wife.
We have not had a problem with hair getting pulled or any uneven spots. The only complaint that I have (and this may be more an issue of my hair than the clippers) is that it leaves my edges a little bit higher than the rest of my hair - we have to cut my edges at a lower setting in order for everything to be level.
The DVDs that come with the set are pretty lame, but can provide a few minutes of laughter for the family! This kit comes with everything that you could need, a brush to clear loose hairs, an apron, oil, scissors, clips, a few different combs, and a lot of guards for different length cuts.
I would recommend this product to anyone who wants to maintain their hair and save money!

Albeit we have only used the clipper once, I am extremely happy with the kit. You get a lot of options for the money: numerous guards including specialty ones, two combs, scissors, clips, etc. I am new to haircutting and was delighted to be able to watch the included instructional DVD for various techniques, hints, and tips. The instructions and DVD made it very easy to use the clipper, and my husband & I were both extremely pleased with the results of his first home haircut and look forward to many years of saving money with this product. The clipper is fairly intuitive to use, seems well made, and has clear instructions. My only 'complaint' would be the quality of the included scissors; they are not terrible to use, but not fantastic either, although for the price of the entire kit, quite suitable. I would definitely not hesitate to re-purchase this item and highly recommend it to all with low-to-moderate home haircutting needs.Customer Review: Six years now and going strong!

Let's see, today is August 26, 2010. I suppose by now it's about time that I leave a review for it, huh?
I originally started cutting my own hair when I learned to ride a motorcycle. Having a longer haircut did not work out so well with a helmet, so I began cutting it short. I use the #3 razor all around, then I touch up with the #2 in various places (mostly on the lower sides/back).
I've been doing this every couple weeks for years, cleaning the razor after every use, and oiling it on occasion. And to be quite frank, I oil/lubricate the blades much less often than the manufacturer recommends. But still six years later, the razor is working perfectly fine, does not overheat, and has in the meantime saved me a ton of money.
If you're hesitating on this item, don't bother. Just buy it. And review it in 2016. Have fun.
