Customer Review: I really liked it but didn't love it

Wow Amazon came through again, I just ordered this and it found it's way to my porch in just three days.
When I opened this package it found a little bundle, of what I thought, would be joy.. Not so fast, it was cute, it is tiny 4", it is very light 4oz.
I wasted not time trying it out. Let me preface this by saying I have amazingly thick hair. I have been cutting my own hair since a beautician cut my hair like she was using a chain saw.
I only used this to cut the lower part of my hair, then the rest by hand. Initially it was doing just fine, but I wish the head was a bit larger since it doesn't cut much at a time.
If the head was a bit larger then the blades may not have jammed. It could not handle my thick hair. I had to turn it off and clean the blades and back I went. As I adjusted for the fact that it might jam, it worked fine. It did a nice job, it gave a clean shave on my neck and trimmed the edge. Overall I really like it, it feels funny to use such a light shaver, and the noise level is much lower than the ones I used to use, by Wahl.
If you want this for your children or someone with less full hair it is just fine.
As far as the cut, it was my hand that guided it so I cannot say.

I have been shaving my head for over 10 years. I have used most every blade, cream, gel or electric razor on the market. The closest shave for me has been a Mach 3 with a shaving gel. However, shaving my head every day with a blade takes a lot of time and alot of Mach 3 razors---Additionally, I am prone to ingrown hairs on the back of my head. Because of these reasons, I thought I would try the peanut. WOW!!!!! What a great product. It does not shave as close as a blade but it is darn close and it shaves much closer than any other clipper out there. (now that I have lots of gray hair, the very close cut looks like a shave) Using the Peanut has solved my ingrown hair issue completely. This little bugger is very well made and has plenty of power. Also, I have NEVER cut myself with it. The best shave will always be a blade but the Peanut gets the job done in a third of the time, with no cuts or ingrown hairs. It's a winner.
UPDATE Aug 2009......the Peanut continues to amaze. It cuts just as good as the day I bought it in 2007. No pulled hairs, the white blade guards still snap on firmly and I am still on the original blade! A drop of mineral oil every now and then is the only maintenance I've done. Finally a quality product that works and lasts. Bravo Wahl Bravo!!!!

I bought this product for my husband who is in the military. He ususally can't get away with facial hair while in active duty but when he comes home on leave, sometimes we like the change. The only problem was, once the mustache and beard grew in, we had no way to maintain it and off it came. I thought the size of this product would be perfect because it is compact and has several attachments. Upon him returning to active duty, he found himself out of time to get a haircut. He remembered his new set of clippers and decided to use them. He of course used the longer hair attachment just incase he made a mistake and quickly realized that it was taking twice as long to cut his hair as it typically had in the past. He was please with the cut but would have prefered a wider blade to cover more area at a time. He also is debating cutting again with a shorter hair attachment. All in all, the product is great for the face or a little boys head but if you need a man size hair cut, get the man size peanut clippers! So I say.....invest in both sizes and cover all of your bases. I think that is our next purchase.Customer Review: LOVE my peanuts!!!

I am a professional hairstylist and I have been using the Peanut clippers for quite a few years now and love them! I used to use a standard size clipper for the hair and these little guys for edging and trimming, beards & mustaches.....but when my reg clippers gave out I had no choice but to use these little guys for a whole haircut...the rest is history. Because of the fact that they are so small, they take up little to no room at my station which is small and tight for space, also....they get a close precise cut...as long as your blade is sharp.
While I agree that the cost of the raplacement blades is a little expensive, I will say that I can use the same blade for 6 months to a year depending on how many cuts I do, without having to replace one.....thats what the oil is for.
All in all I LOVE these little guys and this is one of the best prices I have found....that incldes my beauty supply places!

I recently purchased my second Peanut trimmer. I used the first one for about five years but it was getting too dull and replacement blades aren't that much cheaper than a whole new unit. I still have the original but I keep it around for backup and travel only.
I use this primarily to shave my face and trim my beard. It aggravates my skin far less than ordinary shavers. I have tried a variety of alternatives over the years but I settled on the Peanut because it performs well. Battery-powered clippers lack the power I need and tend to lose their recharge capability over time. The Peanut is AC-powered so it never fades.
The only criticism I can think of is that the attachments are made from the sort of brittle plastic that snaps very easily. If I required them routinely I would lower my rating.
