Customer Reviews of WaterPik WP-60W Personal Dental Water Jet System

Customer Review: WATER PIK REVIEW
Summary: 4 Stars

Water Pik has the best water jet system that I have used. The problem with it is that you can plan for the unit to fail in some way in 3-4 years. The usual failure mode is the plastic hose breaks when you least expect it and you know it because it usually gives you a good soaking in a couple of seconds. The most recent failure mode is the "on-off" switch stopped working on my old wp-60w and I called water pik and they apologized, but since it was out of warranty (1 year), they couldn't help me. The real difficulty is that there's no way to repair these units. Fortunately, this latest failure occurred with the on-off switch failing in the on mode, so it really didn't die, but it made using the water pik a bit inconvenient. I bought a new one because it's only a matter of time before my old one fails in the usual manner. I like these units because they are small and portable and I always take one with me when I travel.

Customer Review: I'm confused about ratings?!
Summary: 5 Stars

I rate the WaterPik WP-60W that I just received today 5 stars. I don't understand the low ratings and complaining from others. This is the third WaterPik I have purchased and love this one. I think it runs smoother and quieter than the other two models I owned. It works great. And I like the new design and how it works with my hand and fingers. My one and only complaint about the WaterPik is about the coiled hose. The last two I owned that is where the problem lies. The hose broke off on the last two I owned. But I'm not complaining because the WaterPik lasted well over the 2 year warranty and keeps my gums and teeth fresh and clean. And for under 40 dollars, you can't beat that. I'll buy my fourth WaterPik and my sixth and seventh and so on. Buy it if you are interested in keeping your teeth and gums clean or if someone you know has recommended it. You won't be sorry. Thanks.

Customer Review: Really Poor Product
Summary: 1 Stars

As with others, mine started to leak at the handle in 3 or 4 months. So I tried to do what I did with the last one I had (also a Water pik)--I tried to open the handle to replace the cheap plastic tube that goes from the pump to the handle. In a crass exhibit of planned obsolescence, this one is sealed so that you have to break the handle to get it open. Once open, I found, as I expected, the cheap plastic tube had cracked, thereby leaking most of the water into my hand when I used it. At this point, I thought about super-gluing it together, but realized that I really hated this thing and Water pik in general for duping me into replacing with their product the one I had that lasted 10 years.

Don' buy this one, and if you find one with a plastic tube, determine if you can replace the tube yourself. If not, your machine has a lifetime of at most a year, and probably less.

Customer Review: Bad purchase
Summary: 2 Stars

I purchased 4 waterpiks for my family in the mid '90s, and though model is now discontinued, the same quality was expected. Don't waste your money as I did, because the quality has degraded. The on-off switch is the biggest complaint, since it does not turn on when pulling up as it should. This started shortly after the warranty ended, and it is necessary to push back down toward off in order to get it to operate. It sticks, and slight force is necessary to to push it back. I have tried pulling up slowly, but it just will not start until the switch is on the downward push toward off. Also, they no longer supply the 4 color coded jets as previously, and were careful to see that the extra package purchased for my previous appliance no longer fit. I intend to give this away or throw it away, and have already ordered 4 Hydro Floss for my son, daughters, and myself.

Customer Review: 7+ Years, still going strong
Summary: 5 Stars

I've had this model for over 7 years and noticed the poor reviews so here's my quickie - still runs strong, doesn't leak, but I'm upgrading to the Ultra.

If you're in the market for a WP you might as well go with that since the price is so close. I lost my extra tips years ago & the storage inside the lid on the ultra seems like it'll be a nice feature.

The only cons IMO are the lack of a lid over the reservoir which needs periodic cleaning. The 32 oz+ capacity will likely be missed, but I usually only fill this model halfway anyway so it might not be an issue.

I'm not junking this one - it'll go in a dark corner shelf in case it's services are required in the future. I also ordered the panasonic portable model for the car & travel (runs on AAs) - I hate stuff stuck between my teeth.
