Customer Reviews of Waterpik Ultra Water Flosser

Customer Review: Clean teeth and fresh breath!
Summary: 5 Stars

This is an outstanding product! I was a bit hesitant to order it given some of the reviews, but when it was discounted on a Friday Sale, I figured I'd give it a shot. SO glad I did!

To get the most out of the unit you have to read the manual. It clearly states that you should not leave water in the reservoir (why you would want to anyway is beyond me - why would anyone want to use stale water?). If you don't leave water in it, it won't leak out on your counter. Pretty simple equation there.

I agree with several others that the tongue cleaning attachments are basically useless. They don't fit into the holder anyway, so just toss them out. Sure, try it, but I'll bet you'll find it to be basically useless compared with a true tongue cleaner (i.e., a scraper type device).

The water reservoir could be a bit bigger - an additional 20% bigger would be nice. But, it's very easy to fill even when the unit is running (keep a glass of water handy and just pour it in when the water level is at the half-way point). Simple and easy, and the smaller reservoir does have the benefit of keeping the unit size nice and compact.

Sound level is very low compared with past WaterPik units. No, it's not silent, but it is no more noise than you would get with any other electric appliance in the bathroom such as an electric toothbrush or a shaver. In fact, it is less noise than my shaver.

The auto-retractable hose is a very nice touch and keeps everything neat. Again, a couple inches longer would be nice, but there's the compact size trade-off again.

In actual performance - wow! You will never believe that your teeth could get this clean! Wonderful feeling. There is a wide range of power adjustments ranging from very gentle to ouch! I've found setting the dial to the 5/6 range gives a good cleaning without any discomfort.

Good performance at a good price -- can't ask for more than that.

Customer Review: LOVE IT!
Summary: 5 Stars

I absolutely LOVE this machine. My mouth feels so clean after use, and it truly is amazing the stuff that still comes out after brushing and flossing (although flossing seems unecessary if using this machine).

It definitely says in the instructions to empty it after every use, and to unplug the unit, so don't pay attention to reviewers who say the reservoir leaks, especially if they are leaving water sitting in it after use (which is kind of gross--the idea of using water that's been sitting for hours to clean your mouth????). I can't imagine not using up the water anyway, it only takes about 2 minutes---the recommended time to brush your teeth, so I can do 2 minutes for each to get teeth THIS clean.
And you can always just put less water in. The reservoir is very easily lifted up so that you can run water into it, and dump out any left.

So, for the test, I used Listerine Smart Rinse after brushing and flossing; this particular product "shows" leftover plaque by clinging to it and helping to remove any left in your mouth---it turns color so that you see clear rinse with tiny colored liquid---supposedly the plaque. I originally thought the rinse didn't work, because it ALWAYS had colored particles when I spit out after brushing and flossing, no matter how careful and thorough I was. Well, after using the waterpik the first time, I tried the Listerine rinse again----not a single bit of colored liquid pieces, all of it was clear---proving to me that not only did the waterpik get at all the gunk in my mouth, but the rinse really did work. I won't really need it anymore (I originally bought if for my kids---they didn't ever use it, so I was just using it till it was gone) since I know the Waterpik gets it all so clean!!!!

As for how long it lasts---I don't know. But it has a 2 year warranty, and I would definitely buy another if I had to in 2 years.

After 17 years of daily use, our WaterPik WP-20 finally stopped working. How's that for a product providing good service and value!

I started to read the user's reviews on all the current offerings by WaterPik. I became concerned when I saw more than a normal amount of references to the current lineup of WaterPik's having a high incidence of DOA and also being extremely loud and noisey. These posts were in the descriptions of the many WP-XX models that have existed for the past few years. However, the NEW WP-100 Ultra caught my eye with some buzzwords as "new and ultra-quiet" and "a small footprint"

Well, I have used it for over a month now and let me tell you that it is just GREAT! It is so much quieter than my previous WaterPik (which really did sound like a mini-jackhammer.. but I learned to live with it for 17 years!) This new unit sort of quietly purrs! And the unit has ten selection pressures which I find to be an extra helpful for occasional sensitive areas.

The new styling is also excellent. It does occupy a lot less space on my countertop. I can only conclude by saying that IF WaterPik had some problems with their previous models, they have solved them all with this new WaterPik WP-100 Ultra model.

To the fella above who claims that he doesn't need this product, I suggest that he first brush his teeth just after he eats, THEN use the WaterPik WP-100 Ultra. He won't believe how much jetsom and flotsam will be flushed out from between his teeth and his gums. FYI, you still will need to floss everyday. And, Yes, you must have the nozzle in your mouth BEFORE you turn it on!

Do yourself a favor if you are needing one of these, just spend the $60 for this new model--the WP-100 Ultra and you will be as satisfied as I am! And No, I do not work for WaterPik!
