This is a perfect description of what this product has become and the people who use them. After purchasing two battery charged water piks, the first was an Inter-Plak, and having them both die within weeks, I looked at the comments and found everyone has the same problem. What's worse is that the nickel cadmium battery can't be thrown out without environmental harm, they have to be returned to a qualified dealer. Of course, most people probably don't do this so these companies are not only defrauding their customers, they are spoiling the enviornment with disposable products that can't be safely disposed.
I just bought the model that attaches to the shower. Don't know how it will work out, but it won't burn out. It won't foul the environment. It doesn't use electricity and it won't clutter my counter. Its considerably cheaper. It seems like the way to go, doesn't it?

I am certainly NOT a dentist--nor am I anything close to a qualified evaluator of ANY medical equipment. But...I do have solid experience in engineering, and the hard and social sciences, and I LOVE the "WaterPik WP-65 Personal Dental Water Jet." I mix lots of water, with several tablespoons of Listerine--nearly filling the WaterPik's reservoir (all quite UNscientifically), and repeatedly, remain abundantly impressed with the junk this baby removes--and, how fresh my mouth feel thereafter. (I've also used the WaterPik, quite unconventionally, to blast out the gunk from my razor, my ear and nose hair clipper, and other tools). This EXTREMELY picky consumer, STRONGLY recommends you buy this product. (Tho' I think we would ALL like to see more convincing independent research on its long-term effectiveness on improving gum and dental health.)Customer Review: better than using floss

With this product I would say I am 90% pleased. It cleans between your teeth a lot better than flossing. Also it gets in between the teeth that are real close together with no problems. It does remove the tiny particles that flossing seems to leave behind.
The reason I only gave it 4 stars is: Reservoir could fit better. Most of the time I have to move it back & forth till the pressure comes thru the jet tip. Once I get that going it works fine. Also it would be better if they had the pressure control on the unit instead of handle. Being left-handed causes a problem because my thumb will push up the pressure level. But that I solved by putting tape on it to where I want the pressure level to stay at. The plus side is that it has a 2 yr. warranty on it and all in all it does the job it claims it will do.

I bought this item 8 months ago. All of a sudden, it stopped pumping water. It has a two year warranty. Now, I have the option of shipping it back to the service center or buying another one. I need a water pik, but the postage and the hassle of sending it somewhere is simply not worth it. And the time it will take to get it back. This is how they make their money- they sell you something that is shoddy and give it a two year warranty then they give you no choice but to buy another one because when the time comes to make use of the warranty, the time and expense you have to take to make use of it cancels the benefit. If they gave it a 6 month warranty, I would not had expected so much. A two year warranty led me to believe this is a mugh better product than I thought. It is a sales tactic.

I had a WaterPik when, as an adult, I found myself with a mouth full of braces. It was a Godsend! All these years later I decided I needed another one, and I'm so pleased to have it! This water flosser is a fabulous addition to brushing and flossing as it blasts out debris from beneath bridges and in between teeth that sometimes get missed with traditional flossing. With all of the latest research on dental hygiene and cancer, longevity and overall health, this is a 'power tool' I won't be without.
I opted for the "cheap" model as I didn't need whistles and bells. Reviewers who have complained about poor pressure probably aren't adjusting it on the handle. I find the pressure just perfect, and adjustable!
I recommend this product.
