Customer Reviews of Waterpik Waterflosser Cordless PLUSCustomer Review: Do not buy this waterpik! Summary: 1 Stars
I have been using it now for two months and I think that the unit is a disaster.
PROS: it's cordless, it holds a charge for many hours, it is small enough to take along if traveling.
CONS: it's jet rotates in your mouth so it is impossible to aim at a particular spot unless you hold the jet with the other hand which is rather awkward. But even then the jet easily flips and slips around in your mouth such that you need several refills to do a good cleaning.
Worse: the jet tends to jump off, spraying your face, the mirror, the bathroom, everything. It's a facial shower unit. Although by now I'm well rehearsed to use both hands to keep it in place, the jet keeps popping off and I have hardly a cleaning where I don't need to clean myself and the room up thereafter.
Also: the jet intermittently starts jerking around, or up and down, like a sledgehammer ... jerking around on your gums, even making them bleed. The solution to that is to turn the unit off and start over.
Then the on / off switch has a problem: the lightest touch turns it on or off, such that if you are cleaning, you might inadvertently turn it off or if you are done and just drying it off you might inadvertenly turn it on and once again spray everything.
I'm going to order right now a different product.
Customer Review: A Waste Of Money Summary: 1 Stars
Well, all I can say is that when I get it into my head that I want something, there's not much that can sway me in the other direction. So, what I'm going to say to you is this: Listen to the reviews. This product is a complete waste of money. I already own a HydroFloss Irrigator, a high-end machine with a lot of power which cleans under your gums and is excellent for preventing gum disease. I've been using it for years but I wanted something portable, a "no-muss, no-fuss" kind of instrument for when I didn't have time for the HydroFloss. I convinced myself that I wanted this WaterPik product, so I bought it. Not only did it have absolutely NO power (and, believe me, I know that I charged it properly) but it's also messy (water dripping everywhere) and it barely holds enough water to be of any use. It's a complete waste. As someone else mentioned, you can probably swish water around your mouth and it will have more power than this little machine. It was a huge disappointment and I feel totally stupid for wasting my money, especially when so many people on this review board said that it was not a good machine. At any rate, I learned my lesson. If the majority of reviewers say "don't get it," I'm not going to get it! Buy a HydroFloss -- your gums and your dentist will thank you.
Customer Review: Poorly designed for me Summary: 2 Stars
Waterpik Ultra Cordless Dental Water Jet
I have to agree with Burkhard. The tip moves so easily its impossible to keep the deep cleaning "Pik Pocket" tip pressed against the gumline to get the deep cleaning it was designed to give. Also, the on/off button should be turn off automatically when released. Trying to control the tip position, hold your head over and down in the sink, tilt the body so the fluid is around the intake tube and slide the on/off button to the position desired is fairly challenging. Plus the on button moves so easily I keep accidentally touching it when removing the tip from my mouth or getting ready to use it and spraying mouthwash in my face, on my shirt or across the room! :-) I finally wrapped a rubber band between the tip holder and the body so it wouldn't move without some effort and another over the on/off button and around the body pulling it down toward the off position so it shuts off when I stop pushing on it. All that and the small resevoir make it just too awkward for my taste. I'll stick with the wand type thank you. They have they're problems too but for me a lot less.
Customer Review: A necessary but inadequate tool Summary: 1 Stars
This is the second one of this model we have owned, and we bought it only because we need an oral irrigator to take on trips (we bought the Waterpik Ultra Water Flosser for use at home, and we are pleased with it). The Cordless PLUS has adequate power and enough capacity to do the job, but the inexcusable problem with it is that the connector for the charging cord is totally unprotected from the water that necessarily runs all over the machine while it is in use. The first one we had corroded fairly quickly and became unusable because it stopped charging. Given that this is such an obvious flaw (and I have read it in a number of other reviews), it is hard to imagine why Waterpik has made no effort to come up with a fix.
So why did we buy another one? As I said, we need a portable model and we figure with the relatively little use it will get, it will last long enough before going bad to justify the cost. I also have taken to blowing the water out of the connector after using it, though I doubt that really makes much of a difference (maybe I should take a hairdryer to it!).
Customer Review: wonderful product, wonderful company and customer service! Summary: 5 Stars
I have owned a Ultra Cordless Waterpik now since December 2009. It started to act funky about two weeks ago when it began to make a loud chirping noise (which it did not do when I first bought it). So, I called the customer service line to see what I should do/what they could do for me- and I was prepared to have to argue- like you normally would- just to get the minimal amount of respect and for them to believe that their product is actually malfunctioning. (Don't we all know companies like that!) Anyway, it was a snap! I actually got a customer service rep in less than 5 minutes, to whom I explained my problem to, and then I provided her with the serial number and the model number of the machine, and she assured me that it would be no problem, and they would send another one out as a replacement right away! Talk about wonderful customer service---and that also makes me feel really good about spending $50.00 for a dental "gadget" which, although it works really great, if it hadn't been so easy to fix this problem, I might have had mixed feelings about purchasing it in the first place.
